I have a digital copy of this book but it was still awkward to read it. Since this book was adapted in Audible format, I can now listen whenever I want to. Re-listening to the book, I have learned new things that I have missed. I am so very happy that this is in audio form.

But he demands a terrible price for his help: one young woman handed over to serve him for 10 years, a fate almost as terrible as falling to the Wood.

I really wanted to like this book overall. The story was great but the performance was very hard to like although quite authentic for the story. I had loved Spinning Silver and hoped that the performance was just as great. I was a smidge disappointed for it was a little too authentic.

I quite agree that the story was read much too quickly. It was very distracting so I decided to run the story at .75 speed. It still took a little getting used to but it was much, much better. I love the Dobbs mysteries and I learn quite a bit from Ms Dobbs, even though she is a work of fiction.

I love the premise of this book but found myself wanting to buy the paperback because the material often referred to section and illustrations. I also wanted the chapter breakdown which doesn’t usually coincide with the “Audible” chapter breakdown.
