What made the experience of listening to Sin's Doorway and Other Ominous Entrances the most enjoyable?

The excellent, fun, interesting short stories.

What other book might you compare Sin's Doorway and Other Ominous Entrances to and why?

The Devil is Not Mocked and Other Warnings by Manly Wade Wellman. These are collections of short stories that don't belong to a charachter's series (like Silver John or John Thunstone.) They are fantasy and scifi short stories, often set in the appalachians.

What about Brian Troxell’s performance did you like?

his consistency.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

definintely

Any additional comments?

I recommend you download the entire series. Manly Wade Wellman's works are a national treasure.

This audiobook collects Wellman’s John Thunstone and Lee Corbet stories, written between 1943 and 1979. These stories combine the mystical and horrific with traditional Southern folk tales and legends. These stories also reveal a post-World War II modernism that make them much more then pulp romanticism. The paranoia and cynicism of modern weird icons, such as The X-files, may well have had their genesis in the pulp musings of Manly Wade Wellman.

Much of Richard Matheson's work has found its way into pop culture: the title story became a memorable episode of television's The Twilight Zone, and more recently, Will Smith starred in the blockbuster movie I Am Legend. Stephen King has declared Matheson to be one of his favorite writers. Find out why as you listen to the classic horror story of a man who peers out of his airplane window to see a gremlin destroying the wing.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would rerecord any narrations by Yuri Rasovsky. Many of the stories were recycled from the short stories in the I Am Leged collection.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The stories were so dark, I have listened to many Richard Matheson Stories, but these are easily the darkest and angriest

What three words best describe the narrators???s voice?

spitty slobbery gross

Was Nightmare at 20,000 Feet worth the listening time?

I liked Hickory and Dickory, Scalzi made them really interesting characters.

Have you listened to any of William Dufris???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to the entire Old Man's War Trilogy and I'm currently listening to the Sheriff of Yrmaneer. He is definitely better suited for action and drama than for humor. These books better suit his vocal talents.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jared Dirac was my favorite, but mostly because he was the main character. Everyone in Scalzi's books is expendable, so you can't get too attached to the characters. Instead, you get awed by the action, the technology, the fresh concepts...

Have you listened to any of William Dufris???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

it's right in line with the excellent job he did on Old Man's War. His voice is well suited for this type of book.
