Book three in Monica McCarty's USA Today bestselling Highland Guard Trilogy, of which Publishers Weekly raved, "Readers who deplore wallpaper historicals will appreciate not only the romance but McCarty's efforts to go beyond the superficialities of historical Scotland." Embedded deep behind enemy lines, Arthur “Ranger” Campbell is prized for his razor-sharp senses and his ability to blend into the shadows. But when Arthur infiltrates the clan of the chieftain who murdered his father, his heart is locked on revenge. Inside he faces unexpected resistance from the sweetest of obstacles—a honey-haired siren who is his enemy’s daughter.

The only thing that got on my nerves was Anna. Although she was very intuitive and you couldn't get anything passed her, she was a nag. Ranger's character was very enjoyable, and suspenseful, with action. But once again there is treachery, the lies and suspense in the mist of romance. You will enjoy this book.

I love it when strong men and women bump heads. It makes the story more interesting, especially when you already know how it is going to end . . . somewhat. The story in between is exciting. You don't know what will happen next and I like that. This book is a good listen, however, I wish there was a better narrator.

Once again from the very beginning the story holds your attention. The chemistry between Lena and Alex and the support they give each other is endearing. You will enjoy this story.

This book will not disappoint

The only problem I had with this book was the narrator, Hugh Bradley. Why didn't someone catch the wrong pronunciation, and he kept doing it. Other than that, I enjoyed his narrating and each character was identifiable. The story was well written. This is the type of story that touches your heart when it comes to military veterans and the trials they suffer once they come home from war.
