What woman in her right mind would say no to marrying the dashing Duke of Sedgemoor? Miss Penelope Thorne, that's who. She's known Camden Rothermere since they were children - and she also knows she'd bring nothing but scandal to his name. Cam can hardly believe Penelope turned down his proposal. But if she wants to run off to the Continent and set the rumor mill ablaze, he can't stop her. Then her brother's dying request sends him to bring home the one woman he thought he'd finally gotten over.

This story is tedious! Another one of those "Oh - I can't marry him because he doesn't really love me ENOUGH" stories. I kept listening because Steven West's narration is such a pleasure but I was certainly not sad to finally get to the end!

Sorry, Lorraine, but that's the truth. I read the reviews and so tried to get into it since some reviewers loved it but I just couldn't.

An exiled princess with revolutionary ideas is just a convenient opportunity to get himself out of debt. Princess Olympia isn't precisely fairy-tale royalty herself; she's plump and a little shy, and desperate to do something of importance in the world. But though their meeting begins with her hopeless hero worship, a harrowing journey to the bleak edge of the world will transform them both.

Most romance books tend to be an entertaining bit of fluff with an HEA. This book was a shattering look into a man’s struggle to find redemption after the horrors of war. The end gave me goosebumps and left me feeling stunned. If you just want fluff, you probably won’t like this but if you was something deeper and more thought provoking, plunge into this one.

I don't actually know if this story is any good or not. I returned the audible book after listening to about 30 minutes which was all I could stand of this horrible narrator. Her fake British accent is so uncomfortable that it set my teeth on edge! It reminded me of my 2nd year French students trying to stumble through reading a text. It's sad, too, because Anne Gracie's stories are always fun and enjoyable but this is one that I'll have to enjoy in the print version!

I usually love Sherry Thomas' works but this one just didn't do it for me. It was one of those books where I kept looking at the time measurement to see how much longer it would take to get to the end of this! The first part is kind of a travelog of India - confusing and not very interesting, and the heroine is totally unappealing. Add to that, the narrator is definitely NOT one of my favorites. So all in all, this was a pretty hard book to like. I would say, take a pass on this one.
