Joe DeMarco always knew that his father, Gino, had a shady job for a local mafioso, but he didn't understand that Gino had been a hit man until he was murdered. Now, nearly 20 years later, one of Gino's former mob associates is dying of lung cancer, and he wants to get something off his chest before retiring to his grave: the truth about Gino's killer. The shocking information, and the powerful position the killer now occupies, sends DeMarco on a mission of revenge with terrible consequences.

I've listened to 9 DeMarco books in order through Audible. Mr. Lawson's characters are so well developed and I feel that I have actually met each one personally. Can't wait to listen to #10.

Thank you, Mike, for another well crafted story with interesting, well developed characters and creative humor. I have to say, I first decided to try your books after my third grandson was born - his name is Lawson Michael. I am so glad I listened to the first book in the series and now am working my way through. Joe Barrett's narration is perfect in my opinion. Thanks again.

DeMarco is sent to investigate the death of a reporter, the son of one of his boss’ old colleagues, even though it appears to be nothing more than an unfortunate accident. He soon learns that the reporter was on the trail of Senator Paul Morelli, a rising star considered a shoe-in for his party’s presidential nomination. Some politicians are lucky, and Morelli has been luckier than most, but his past has already been thoroughly scrutinized and he looks clean. But then, why is DeMarco being followed by a pair of rogue agents who freelance for the CIA?

This book, as well as all the books in the series, is fantastic. The character development is outstanding and so is the plot. The humor is amazing! I have to say, I found myself chuckling throughout the book. I love the narration- Joe Barrett, you do a great job with all the characters, although I particularly like John Mahoney!

Two blood-spattered strangers awake, locked in the trunk of a car - with a murdered cop and the smoking gun. Aside from raging headaches and no idea what's happened, they appear to have nothing in common. Troy thinks it's 2001 and he's still a combat surgeon fighting terrorists in Afghanistan. Emmy believes it's 2002 and she's still grifting a living from the streets of L.A.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of its original publication, here is a new translation of the classic story of the life and loves of a poet/physician during the turmoil of the Russian Revolution. Taking his family from Moscow to what he hopes will be shelter in the Ural Mountains, Zhivago finds himself instead embroiled in the battle between the Whites and the Reds. Set against this backdrop of cruelty and strife is Zhivago’s love for the tender and beautiful Lara.

After a trip to Russia, I decided to read Doctor Zhivago and given the difficulty of pronouncing the many names, surmised that the best reading would be an audio book. The reader was perfect! Thank you! The afterword was extremely informative, I wish there had been an option to hear about the life of Pasternak and the political influences on his work before listening to the book.
