In the tradition of Paul Tough's How Children Succeed and Wendy Mogel's The Blessing of a Skinned Knee, this groundbreaking manifesto focuses on the critical school years when parents must learn to allow their children to experience the disappointment and frustration that occur from life's inevitable problems so that they can grow up to be successful, resilient, and self-reliant adults.

I have raised my own children and have been a teacher to hundreds of children. Since I read this book, I have been sharing it with family and friends on social media. It's a MUST READ. I found myself guilty of some of the actions that hinder children from taking responsibility for themselves, but I also felt confirmation for the things I have been doing "right." I will be recommending this book to the parents of my next class of children. It's easy to read and full of research that makes sense!

While Carrie Green is wildly successful (and you will hear ALL about it in this book), she said it herself... Paraphrasing: "You're not going to please everyone. Different people are motivated by and connect best with different people." I'm sure she's a wonderful and obviously very hard-working person, but I was put off with the hundreds of times I heard "I" or "me" or "my" or the name of her business and the many, many references to the website. This book seemed like 90% motivation and inspiration. I don't need confidence. I need an action plan. I found myself constantly fast-forwarding 30 seconds at a time to try to find meat and escape the endless stories.

THANK YOU, Christy, for actually mixing in just enough inspiration into the real NUTS and BOLTS of business! So many books out there are chapter after of chapter of "you can do this" with no real plan. I will be buying a hard copy to go with the Audible version.

In The Upside of Stress, McGonigal highlights new research indicating that stress can, in fact, make us stronger, smarter, and happier - if we learn how to embrace it.

The stories, research experiments, and statistics in this book are amazing! This is an eye-opening, revolutionary way to look at stress and life. It's a complete mindset shift from how the world has looked at stress in the recent past, and she has proof to back it up. I highly recommend this book.

In the beginning, there were sections where I wondered why he was sharing such information, but as the book progressed, I could see how it all fit together. This book contains many, many great resources for being an inspirational, and highly effective coach. I plan to buy the paper copy so that I can highlight and take notes next time.
