This is a fun cozy 'summer read". If you enjoy cozies and light fantasy this is the perfect book. My favorite character is Dorian - I would love to own my own cooking gargoyle. The narrator was great, this was my first time listening to her. I enjoyed it so much I spent another credit to get book 2 in the series.

If you could sum up Citizen Jane in three words, what would they be?

Never give up !

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that this was a true crime story with a hero, very unusual in this type of book. It was nice to see someone fight so hard, become stronger and help others. I wish every victim had a Jane to fight for them.

What does Kevin Pierce bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings each character to life. He tells a story, he doesn't just read a book to you.

Would you consider the audio edition of A Is for Arsenic to be better than the print version?

Probably the audio, I really enjoyed the audio version and I have listen to it more than once. I think this would be a book that I would like to own both in audio and print.

Who was your favorite character and why?

No characters as this is a nonfiction book. I am a huge Agatha Christie fan and I absolutely loved this book. To get facts about Agatha, her murderers and the poisons all in one place is wonderful !

What about Beth Chalmers’s performance did you like?

Her accent was great. This is the first time I have listened to her work and I would be happy to listen to her again.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I hated to stop when I had to take a break.

Would you listen to The History and Folklore of Vampires again? Why?

Yes I would listen to this book again. The old folklore stories and the beliefs people used to have are fascinating. The author did a wonderful job finding old facts and putting them together in a very informative yet entertaining book.

What other book might you compare The History and Folklore of Vampires to and why?

I cannot compare this book to any other I have read. I have never read any about this subject but I would be happy to read others like it if I could find them.

Have you listened to any of Jack Chekijian’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to him before and I enjoy his voice, it is pleasant and very unique.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. It is short so it was easy to listen to all at once.

Would you listen to Precious Victims again? Why?

Yes, I actually read this in paperback many years ago. This is the sad, but fascinating, true story of a mother who kills her infant girls. I do wonder how much the father was involved.

What other book might you compare Precious Victims to and why?

It is hard to compare true crime, this one is very well written. This is an older book but the author writes an update at the end which I really appreciated.

What about Kevin Pierce’s performance did you like?

I love the timbre of his voice. It is easy to understand and fits the true crime genre very well.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It is the fascinating story of Annie Oakley who was not your typical female of her time. She did not let being a woman slow her down from doing something she loved and was so talented at. I had Annie Oakley confused with Calamity Jane but now that I know the difference I want to read even more about Annie.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Annie Oakley: Legendary Sharpshooter?

I enjoyed it all, from her early hard childhood to her golden years.

Have you listened to any of Caroline Miller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was the first book I have listened to that she reads and I found her voice to be very charming and well suited to this story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it was very interesting and easy to listen to all at once.

Any additional comments?

I think parents and kids should listen together and can discuss how different things used to be for women and children.

What did you love best about Kentucky Bloodbath?

That all ten cases were new to me. I knew nothing about any of these crimes. It was a short listen but each story feels complete and not just bare facts.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Kentucky Bloodbath?

Not memorable but this books tells you about the worst of human nature and what horrible things people can do to each other. I wouldn't call the crimes bizarre - I would call them terrifying and blood thirsty !

What does Kevin Pierce bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love his voice and have only listened to him read nonfiction. I enjoy him well enough that I am going to try one of the fiction books he reads to compare the difference.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

Just realizing how many crimes are committed that we never hear about.
This was the first book written by Kevin Sullivan that I have read and I am impressed, I will not hesitate to buy more of his books.

Would you try another book from Candy O'Donnell and/or Charles Orlik?

I might try another book from Candy O'Donnell if the subject interests me. I definitely would listen to Charles Orlik again, I enjoy his clear reading of what could be dry material.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

More details and explanations. I listened to the book but other than asking permission to talk and trust your intuition didn't come away with a clear understanding of the subject.

Have you listened to any of Charles Orlik’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to one other book read by Charles and I think his performance on it was even better than this one.

Could you see Talk With Your Animals being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I don't think it would make a good tv show. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see a physic pet show on tv.
