Bitterwood has spent the past twenty years hunting down dragons, one at a time. But he is getting old and the hate that he has carried in his heart since a group of dragon-soldiers killed his family is beginning to fade. When he kills the royal prince dragon, the king decides the only retribution is genocide of the human race. Bitterwood is forced to enter the Free City, the grand trap designed to eradicate mankind, with thousands of others. Can he lead from within, or can a select few dragons unite to stop the king's madness from becoming reality.

This narrator is very boring! I didn't even get past first chapter. I have it on Kindle and will read the book instead. Hope it's better!

I killed a girl last night. I did it with my bare hands and an old piece of pipe I found lying next to the dumpster. But that's not the part that got me. The part that scared me, the part I can't seem to wrap my head around and still has me reeling, was that when she charged me, her body shifted; and then she was a wolf - all snapping teeth and extended claws. But by the time I stood over her lifeless body, she was a girl again. That's about the time I went into shock. And that was the moment he showed up.

Great plot. Story ended well, but leaves you guessing about the future. Probably will read the next one. Only problem was wolves speaking. Anyone with half a brain knows that would be physically impossible for them to talk and the sound be the same as a human. Even fantasy can't make that happen. Should've had them mind speak! There's some fantasy!

I enjoyed this book very much. But I don't think the plot was thoroughly developed before the story began. The author seemed to start with a set of rules for the characters but as the story progresses the rules seem to get twisted to suit the new set of characters. Fortunately it wasn't a cliffhanger and it doesn't feel necessary to read any further. I'm not sure I want to read anymore.
