After failing to completely close The Rift, Lusam and Neala travel south in search of the illusive Pearl Isle, where they hope to discover the fourth Guardian book, and return in time to try again. Time, however, is not on their side, as the dark God, Aamon, sets in motion a plan to restore his own power, and once again tear open The Rift to unleash the horrors of the Netherworld upon their world. Aysha's new inability to see his destiny, along with her prophetic warnings about a hidden realm and Neala's certain death if she enters it, all weigh heavily on Lusam's mind.

The author got the biology wrong. Too many mistakes in the basic science and biology, that it was cringe worthy. The author sounds like they interviewed a scientist and didnt understand what was said. The writing was repetitive and boring, whole sections on were repeated time and time again. The descriptions of of exploding bodies was repeated again and again and was really badly written. I listened to the end because of perverse morbid curiosity, and I wasn't disappointed the books got worse and worse.. I am very disappointed with the editors and publishers, how could they have let these books be published. T
