I love his other books, but this was a chore.

So, James Elroy is very very hard to listen to. His voice tone pitch and inflection are literally all over the place and make it hard to follow the story and pay attention to. After listening I'm asking myself. What was that?

Exceptionally well written. I enjoyed this book and it's gritty subject matter. It's a non flinching and realistic account of life on the inside I reccomend the entire series. A very hard book to put down or stop listening to as an audio book.

Very very good book.

I mean it was ok, it just wasn't my cup of tea. Overall it seemed like nearly every other Vietnam War memoir book.
Sorry, I just didn't like this one

it was ok but ended up being too emotional less factual. I supposed it's an emotional topic but it's still too much for a true crime book

I really tried to like this book. However I did not enjoy it and struggled very hard to get into it. I didn't like how "Brady" developed "powers" really distracted from the realistic feel of the rest of the series. Severely disappointed.
