Eliza's parents are relentless - forcing her to constantly take extra courses to prepare for college and medical school. Sometimes, it feels like her entire life has already been planned out. Which is why she leaps at the chance to escape into a new virtual reality game, Awaken Online. What she wasn't expecting was to encounter a capricious god and his loyal "pet". Or to be chosen as this god's "avatar" within the game and forced to tackle a series of asinine quests. Yet she just can't shake the feeling that there is more to the irritating god than first meets the eye.

I struggled to finish, even with a strong performance by Stifel. The plot drags and is derivitive, not to mention that the real world story is way underdeveloped.

An underwhelming novel. Thrawn's character needed setbacks as well as victories. Governor Pryce's storyline was an uninteresting counterpoint to Thrawn's rise.

The production value is average. Better sound mixing is needed and the narrator was over the top and silly at times.

Raithe, the God Killer, may have started the rebellion by killing a Fhrey, but longstanding enmities dividing the Rhune make it all but impossible to unite against the common foe. And even if the clans can join forces, how will they defeat an enemy whose magical prowess renders them indistinguishable from gods? The answer lies across the sea in a faraway land populated by a reclusive and dour race who feel nothing but disdain for both Fhrey and mankind.

This second book in the series didn't capture the freeflowing magic of the first and took me longer to complete, but it kept me vested enough to look forward to the next installment.

The narrative does have uneven moments with the Fhrey plot lines and the evolution of technology is not credible. I also missed the strong sense of humor that the first novel maintained. However, their was growth for certain characters while others surprisingly stagnated.

The narration is top notch

Unfortunately I struggled to finish this novel. I purchased the audio book based upon the interestin premise and it started off decently enough . however as time went by it became apparent that the books pace slowed to a snail's pace and then finally towards the climax and lengthy denouement the book structure fell apart completely. The performance is decent but it was a stretch for the male voices. i just didn't care that much for any of the characters. Won't be reading the sequels

This novel read like polished fan fiction to me. I was not impressed with the depth or the imagination of the storytelling. Words like underdeveloped, bland and unbalanced came to mind frequently. This might capture the imagination of an eight year old. I had to work hard to finish it because it was so boring.

Neil's reading was OK but better to be left to someone with more range.
