This book grew out of a series of letters to my daughter concerning various things - mostly about money and investing - she was not yet quite ready to hear. Since money is the single most powerful tool we have for navigating this complex world we've created, understanding it is critical.

I stumbled across this book thumbing through Amazon's business selection. I figured almost five stars and almost 200 reviews could not be wrong. I read the three-star reviews, the table of contents, and maybe a bit more in the sample and could not put it down, so I bought it. It confirmed a number of things I knew by education and experience. I was so impressed I asked my wife to read it and then bought audio CDs for my children and now have the Audible version for us to listen to out of our library. There's no substitute for a good narrator, especially when it's the author who sounds like Bill Bennett. Get this book. Apply what it says. You will not be sorry.

Throughout the Bible, followers of Jesus are commanded to submit to Him as their King. They are told to obey and follow, faithfully and without hesitation. Every time Christians utter the word Lord, they make a subtle yet profound declaration - that God is their Master and that they belong to Him. In fact, the Bible describes believers as His slaves. They have been bought with a price and now live for Christ as a people for His own possession. But go into most churches today, even flip through most Bible translations, and you won’t see or hear the word slave anywhere.

Wow. I am glad I read some of the 3-star and lower reviews before buying and listening to this. I understand the contrarian views, which made listening all the more interesting. I think the Bible supports MacArthur's views presented in this book and consider his delving into doctrinal issues essential to fully understand all that being a slave and heir and son mean. You won't be disappointed with this book. It will positively change your life forever.

You have to listen to all of it. There is good material and ok material throughout, even though there is likely one or more things you won't agree with or like. It's only about four hours long and not polished but that makes it worth listening to and real.

Good content-A little slow, challenging to follow

First, I like the book. The content is good. The narration, at times, is s little slow and challenging to follow. The book would benefit from re-organization and some reminders of where we have come from at the beginning and where we are going.

Each story made me eager for the next one. The format (relevant, real life or death test - principle learned - principle applied to a real life business challenge) wrapped each point into a tidy module; kind of like the book "How to Win Friends and Influence People." It would be even better, jf all the principles we're briefly reviewed together in an appendix.
