I really enjoyed this. While some may criticize it for not being thoroughly “complete”, it was enough to help me re-discover the joy and inspiration of these wonderful stories, as I do not regularly read the Bible. And to hear Keith David’s terrific dramatic voice as the reader made the experience even more special.

First off, how do you not LOVE Stephen Fry?!?! He is the quintessential Brit with a perfect combination of accent, voice, wit, and delivery for such ripe subject material. As a history lover in general and particularly that of Victorian England, I was delighted with how Stephen and his fellow actors serve up a delicious batch of "off the beaten path" tales and facts about life at the height of the British Empire. Incredibly entertaining, I didn't want it to end!

How can you NOT love Michelle Obama?! Her downright honesty and insight about her own feelings and life in general are so inspirational, and prove that regardless of our backgrounds and where life takes us, we all struggle with both our own humanity and that of others. This book has so much that is relatable, and showed me that we all have much more in common than we have differences. We should all have more people like her in our lives. And the fact that she reads her own story was the icing on the cake as far as I was concerned. Way to go Miche!

I am a huge David McCullough fan and I loved that he is the reader of his own wonderful writing. I would highly recommend 1776 to anyone who likes a darn good historical yarn—it feels like the best tale your own grandfather would tell...
