Summoned from her contemplative life in the abbey, Alexandra Ashford finds herself at the mercy of her malicious guardian, a cousin she fears and despises. He plans to force her to marry his crony and so forfeit her estate. Her only chance of escape is to trust the wounded man imprisoned by her cousin. Taken captive and chained to his torturer's floor, clan laird Ian McGregor is left for dead after a brutal beating. He has little hope of escape. But when his enemy's betrothed offers him freedom and asks for his help, he realizes revenge could be sweet indeed.

Leaving the rash life of his youth behind, he returned to Skye, seeking peace. He never meant to split the clan, or start a war with the MacDonald of Duntulm. He certainly never foresaw an arranged marriage to the most scandalous woman in Scotland. Even though she was twice his age, the size of a horse, and mother to more than one illegitimate child, he agreed to secure his sister's freedom. However, even that plan goes drastically awry. On his wedding day, he finds himself faced instead, with an enticing, green-eyed lass named Bree.

I found that Bree was a little naive. And always accusing Ryan of wrong doing and never willing ask him what the truth was. Narrator sound a little childish. I think story would had been better if they had a better narrator. Over all the story was pretty good

Leorah Langdon has no patience for Regency society's shallow hypocrisy and unnecessary rules, especially for women. She's determined to defy convention by marrying for grand passion instead of settling for a loveless union like her parents - or wedding a stuffy, pompous gentleman like Edward, the Viscount Withinghall. But when a chance meeting in the countryside leads to Leorah and Withinghall being discovered in his overturned carriage, the ensuing gossip may force them together.
