A classic thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Crichton, Sphere is a bravura demonstration of what he does better than anyone: riveting storytelling that combines frighteningly plausible, cutting-edge science and technology with pulse-pounding action and serious chills. The gripping story of a group of American scientists sent to the ocean floor to investigate an alien ship, only to confront a terrifying discovery that defies imagination,.

Fascinating story just takes awhile to get going.
Didn't like the narrator at first but once we got to the action scenes he was great.

Deep in the African rain forest, near the legendary ruins of the Lost City of Zinj, an expedition of eight American geologists are mysteriously and brutally killed in a matter of minutes. Ten thousand miles away, Karen Ross, the Congo Project Supervisor, watches a gruesome video transmission of the aftermath: a camp destroyed, tents crushed and torn, equipment scattered in the mud alongside dead bodies - all motionless except for one moving image - a grainy, dark, man-shaped blur.

Really liked the narrator, she was very even and did a good job of making the long explanations that while interesting, are not blended into the story line very well, more enjoyable to listen to.
Fascinating story that was very well researched of course which helps blend the science and fiction seamlessly.

There was a new shop in town. Run by a stranger. Needful Things, the sign said. The oddest name. A name that caused some gossip and speculation among the good folks of Castle Rock, Maine, while they waited for opening day. Eleven-year-old Brian Rusk was the first customer and he got just what he wanted, a very rare 1956 Sandy Koufax baseball card. Signed. Cyndi Rose Martin was next. A Lalique vase. A perfect match for her living room decor. Something for everyone.

Great story and wonderful narration from the author. The only thing out of place is the music. Totally unnecessary. Still worth a listen though!

This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast. This was my first time doing this and had no idea what to expect, but I really enjoyed it! The narrator was good, and the story was engaging. I'd definitely recommend it.

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

I firmly believe this is Stephen king's best work. Everything about it is perfect, the story, the writing, the research that may have gone into it.

The narration is astounding. I've never been a crying man, but I cried at the end.

I recieved this book as a gift and didn't really know what to expect. I am so glad I listened. It has fast become one of my favourite audio books and is the best I've listened to since 'The Martian'.
The story is gripping and compelling, I didn't want to stop listening. But the real star is the narrator Jeff Hays, whose work I've never heard before. His character voices are incredible, and his timing perfect. Clearly alot of work has gone into the production of this book, and it shows. I will definitely seek out more books by both this author, and reader.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.
