Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury's to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne'er-do-wells by night. Now there's a new item on the list. He needs an heir - which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar's daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she'll do.

Her only choice is to flee London, vowing to start a new life far from the aristocracy. Unfortunately, the carriage in which she stows away isn't saving her from ruin. It's filled with it.

I will be looking forward to book #2! Here is my review for this#1-

The building of the character's was confusing because of all the s's it was hard to remember who was who. The book moved along at a comfortable pace.

The narrator did a fine job switching between characters. The story on the whole was good. The Labrinth and those characters I am not familiar. So for me to get into that part of the story was difficult.

When I read a book I always want to feel that the writer and I have goal. The writers goal is to create a story that has the reader spell-bound until the end. Me as the reader has a strong desire to not to not put that book down until I have turn the very last page! πŸ’•

I am looking forward to the next of this Authors book!πŸ‘

The narrator did an outstanding job considering how bland the story was he with his most interesting narrating skills gave more body and soul. If it stood alone and I just read the very first paragraph I would have donated the book to the waste bin. I did not feel the book the "Second" One in the series that it even had any connection to the first. Its important that they connect to me as a reader and it is why I purchased the second.
I was disappointed...but never fear I will most likely finish out the series maybe the third book will liven up...espeshally if the same narrator performs it! Cheerio'!

Narrator Dan Stevens ( Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

The Narrator has the ability to move between characters and make you feel that each one was an individual that is hard to do and he did it so well. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be able to listen to such an Intriguing and Human story!β™‘

The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.
