Worth staying with this story which might have a slow beginning for some. A chronicle of becoming in the context of war, social mores, ambitions, family, and Japanese -Korean prejudice.

a fascinating first person account and an easy listen , this book reveals in a very visceral way what Russia is really like under Vladimir Putin. it is also a cautionary tale about ambitious businessmen who think they can make money doing deals in Russia with oligarchs whose corruption is a virus that knows no borders. Americans beware.

I preferred Boyne's Heart...book , but this one was actually riveting while at the same time having a dose of predictability building over its course. However, It's a wonderful depiction of a soulless beauty, a man lacking any real desire, only crushing need, constantly driving him and others toward disaster. Wonderful narration.

A good story, if a bit over wrought, tying a female spy of world war1 with a young American woman post world war II in search of her cousin. It's not the Nightingale, but the narration moves the story and amplifies some memorable characters.
