With ribald humor, wit, and incredible insight, Alan seamlessly moves back and forth in time, integrating stories from his childhood in Scotland and his experiences today as the celebrated actor of film, television, and stage. At times suspenseful, at times deeply moving, but always incredibly brave and honest, Not My Father's Son is a powerful story of embracing the best aspects of the past and triumphantly pushing the darkness aside.

I was amazed at how quickly this story drew me in. Alan Cumming has always struck me as fanciful, dramatic and playful. Therefore, this story was wholly unexpected. The narrative is raw, honest and simple. The truth of it needs no embellishment. There is horror, there is pain but there is love and there is triumph.

If it can happen in show business, it's happened to Jon Cryer. Now he's opening up for the first time and sharing his behind-the-scenes stories in a warmly endearing, sharply observed, and frankly funny look at life in Hollywood.

Jon Cryer is incredibly self aware. This allows him to provide an endearing and honest look at his life thus far. Yes, some things are glossed over. Still, the personal reading made it well worth the time spent listening.

Since bursting onto the scene in the mid '70s, the pop duo Captain and Tennille have long defined the sparkling, optimistic idea of everlasting love, both in their music and through their image as a happy and, seemingly, unbreakable couple. They were an irresistible pair to millions of fans all over the world, further underscored by the rousing "yes, we can!" gospel of their biggest hit, "Love Will Keep Us Together". But underneath the image was an entirely different story that the fans never saw.

Having been very young when their music was popular, I vaguely remember the Captain and Tennille. I do not believe I will forget Toni Tennille now. Her story was earnest and gracious. Being a southern woman, her need to please and facilitate happiness are achingly familiar. Her story telling manner is straight forward and highly compelling. I found this to be a thoroughly enjoyable listen.
