This is one of those books that I've read multiple times, own in paperback as well, and bought the audiobook because I enjoy the story and it's a great background set for cleaning the house or doing some particularly yawn-inducing errands. I enjoy most of Ms. Moran's books, although I've not read them all, but this title and Nefertiti are the ones I have read more than once and have as audiobooks as well. It's a fun listen if you're a fan of ancient Egypt, and you enjoy the speculation and imagination required to really understand Nefertiti & Akhenaten's impact on the royal family and Egypt after their reign.

I'm not much for YA books these days, but this series I found absolutely riveting. I work as a nanny/household manager/family assistant, so I have a good chunk of time during the day where I am just running errands, working on schedules or other administrative tasks, or cooking, and Audible has been such a respite when the days become rote and I need something to keep me perked up and non-zombie-like. I listened to the whole series (with the exception of the book written as the diary of Cal's mother) in just a few days and was bummed to learn that the author intended to end the series as is. I would highly recommend to mature 12-15 year olds, though there are parts of the story that may be a little uncomfortable or over the heads of young readers. The performances are stellar across the series, (my favorites being Mare and Iris). Each character is deeply developed and has many facets to their personality, so there are no flat storylines. I actually ended up seeking out other audiobooks performed by the voice actor of Iris, as I enjoyed her portions of later books in the series.
