My home is my sanctuary. Or is it my prison? Some days it's hard to tell. I've confined myself behind these walls for protection. I have my reasons, but that doesn't change the profound loneliness I've discovered in the process. Then one day I find myself drifting toward the window to see him. Corey Marshall, my new neighbor. Quiet, reserved, and cute as can be. He infects my thoughts, becomes the image I fantasize about. I want to taste his lips, smell his scent...feel what it's like to be inside him.

Devon/Riley, the preface basically tried to prepare me for a powerful story and by God you delivered one. The depth of emotion and the descriptions of thoughts, feelings, actions...wow...it's an amazing experience when a story gets right down into the bone. Thank you for that.

Michael, kudos for your excellent performance. I saw those boys in every word you spoke. I could hear their misery, their mental illness, their joy, their love, their lust.

Listener, gird your loins. This has those moments when I literally would get bug eyed and look up from whatever I was doing and it would stop me dead in my tracks. It brought fear, tears, joy, all of it. I even had to turn it off a few times because I had to process the story. These authors have brought us a novel with intensity and purpose. They bring us right into Beautiful Chaos.

Drew, another success without a doubt. I found myself wandering while listening as it was slow for the first half for me, but you as always picked up and made these characters come alive once again...even in their mundane existence..;)

Kirby, love your interpretation of these characters. You are perfect for this series.

Listener, these are to be read in order if you want to get the true sense of Fred and his clan. For those who love this series, this one is good and well worth getting to continue the story.

Devon, you did a wonderful job with this novel. This could be mainstream for everyone if the male sex scenes weren't so vividly described (which by the way, I'm not complaining, just observing a potential larger audience). The depth of your understanding of the characters and their challenges was downright rivoting to me.

Michael, very good job. Your inflections and choices of voices was perfect for me.

Listener, this is worth every moment and every penny you have to spend. Be prepared for some deep subject matter and some inner reflection. Plus some very sensual moments between these boys.

During the Civil War, two young soldiers on opposite sides find themselves drawn together. One is a war-weary scholarly Southerner who has seen too much bloodshed, especially the tortures inflicted upon the enemy by his vicious commanding officer. The other is a Herculean Yankee captured by the rag-tag Confederate band. When these two find themselves admiring more than each other's spirit and demeanor, when passions erupt between captor and captive, will this new romance survive the arduous trek to Purgatory Mountain?

Jeff, Thank you for bringing us 2 books of writing that raise a bar in gay fiction. (This one and the second one Salvation).
What amazing pieces of work you have created! Is this for the weak of heart, squeamish and shy? No. Is it for someone who wants a vanilla existence when they read about sex? No. Instead, you give folks who want to delve into a real piece of literature - something to bite into - something to hold your breath then gasp over - something to shudder over - something to cry over - something to lust over. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Mikael, first, marry me? You can talk to me any time you desire. You are an amazing narrator. What life you bring to this story! The accents are perfect. The reading was superb! I am so glad I got hear you read the first book because it made the second one that much better! I hear your voice all the way thru my reading of Salavation. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Seriously, consider marrying me.

Reader..."listen" to Mikael's reading of the first book. Then go to the 2nd book. The 2nd one doesn't have an audible, but once you "hear" Mikael read it, the second book will be as alive as the first! And get ready. You are on a ride thru the Civil War South and it wasn't pretty and this fictional piece could have been reality. Yes, there's S&M in here, and if you have never desired a little S&M in your life or don't understand it, then it may turn you away. Please don't let it. You will miss out on a fine piece of literature if you do. I'm not one for torture scenes, and was prepared for more than was there, it was enough and it was vivid at times, but it was done in such a way that you will be able to get thru it and want more!

I don’t want Jason Vega. Not at all. It’s the worst idea ever. Ah, hell... Jason is handsome. Smart. Dangerous. Hot. He’s goddamn gorgeous - but he’s also sleeping on the street, hanging out with the local biker gang, and selling his body for a living. Our lives, our paths, couldn’t be further apart. I’m crawling toward the light while he’s falling into the dark. But it doesn’t matter how different we are or what logic dictates.

Jo, once you got going, you caught me. The character development was strained for me for a little while, and I honestly came close a few times in the first half on giving up, but when I was just about to call it quits, you intrigued me with "something". Glad I stuck it out. It's a powerful story in so many ways. And overall, it is a memorable read.

Teddy/Iggy, good job.

Listener, try this book, and hang in there with the characters. It is not for the squeamish or faint of heart, some of the subject matter is really intense, and yes, I mean really intense, but it was well worth the push thru to the last half...well worth it.

It was in places definitely not Elizabeth, but Joan, you did an excellent job at recreating that brilliant mind...of not only Elizabeth, but of her characters. Good job...I know it was a hard one, but you did a good job. Well done.

Barbara, your voice is one of a kind and I could visualize many of the characters as you brought them to life. Very good.

Listener, you may not get "full out Elizabeth Peters" but I can tell you this, after reading all of the series, open your mind, listen to your Ameila heart, and dive in. it's good. If for no other reason to honor Elizabeth Peters. That's what Joan did, and she did it with style and grace. Amelia wouldn't have it any other way.
