Human laws do not apply in the territory controlled by the Others - vampires, shape-shifters, and paranormal beings even more deadly. And this is a fact that humans should never, ever forget.... After her divorce, Vicki DeVine took over a rustic resort near Lake Silence - in a human town that is not human controlled. Towns like Vicki's have no distance from the Others, the dominant predators that rule most of the land and all of the water throughout the world. And when a place has no boundaries, you never really know what's out there watching you.

Wow I mean WOW. What a ride. I couldn't walk away from this book. It'll make you , cry, cuss, scream and according to my family talk to yourself. These characters are three dimensional they're so real. All the elements are there politics (vamp), family, past, present, future, love, hate, hope and magic. You want to get to the end, yet you fear that you're near the end. Jane is amazing, her story is fascinating and her life is not for the weak.

Unique characters and storyline. It sucked me right in and I bought every book in the series. Heroine is a long suffering, hard driving woman. She wants the best for others. The other characters are a variety of good, bad and infuriating. You never know where you might end up. Hard to put down.

Joe Kenda investigated 387 murder cases during his 23 years with the Colorado Springs Police Department and solved almost all of them. And he is ready to detail the cases that are too gruesome to air on television, cases that still haunt him, and the few cases where the killer got away. These cases are horrifyingly real, and the detail is so mesmerizing you won't be able to turn it off.

I love the tv show Homicide Hunter with Joe Kenda. So when I saw the book I preordered it. I'm not sorry. You may think you've heard it all but you haven't. There are some things you can't say or show on tv, shocking but true. And with Joe narrating like he does the show it's even better. How this man retained his sanity and self control is beyond me. This is one of the best books I've ever heard/read. It's in my top 5 and my library is vast. So worth the read. I highly recommend this book.

Just when you think a story can't get any better; it blows you away. The story line is exciting and interesting. The characters are so well developed that they leap off the page. You cheer them on, you catch yourself trying to warn them and you cry for them. You don't want the story to end and yet you can't help wanting to know what's ahead. I think this is my favorite Soulwood in the series and I can't wait for the next. This is truly a story worthy of a read or listen. I highly recommend this book and series to those who enjoy adventure and a trip into a world like no other. Bravo...

In this poignant and disturbing memoir of lost innocence, coercion, survival, and healing, Dianne Lake chronicles her years with Charles Manson, revealing for the first time how she became the youngest member of his Family and offering new insights into one of the 20th century's most notorious criminals and life as one of his "girls". While much has been written about Charles Manson, this riveting account from an actual Family member is a chilling portrait that recreates in vivid detail one of the most horrifying chapters in modern American history.
