After a human uprising was brutally put down by the Elders - a primitive and lethal form of the Others - the few cities left under human control are far-flung. And the people within them now know to fear the no man's land beyond their borders - and the darkness.... As some communities struggle to rebuild, Lakeside Courtyard has emerged relatively unscathed, though Simon Wolfgard, its wolf shifter leader, and blood prophet Meg Corbyn must work with the human pack to maintain the fragile peace.

I never wanted to run someone over with my car so bad. Lt. Mongomerys family are despicable people except his mom. I did like it otherwise. It didn't feel like a final book but I did hear the word "jumble" twice in the final chapters. That's a hint y'all.

Across the Four Lands, peace has reigned for generations. But now, in the far north, an unknown enemy is massing. More troubling than the carnage is the strange and wondrous power wielded by the attackers—a breed of magic unfamiliar even to the Druid order. Fearing the worst, the High Druid dispatches a diplomatic party under the protection of the order’s sworn guardian, Dar Leah, to confront the mysterious, encroaching force and discover its purpose.

Since the Others allied themselves with the cassandra sangue, the fragile yet powerful human blood prophets who were being exploited by their own kind, the delicate dynamic between humans and Others changed. Some, like Simon Wolfgard, wolf shifter and leader of the Lakeside Courtyard, and blood prophet Meg Corbyn see the new, closer companionship as beneficial - both personally and practically.

Human laws do not apply in the territory controlled by the Others - vampires, shape-shifters, and paranormal beings even more deadly. And this is a fact that humans should never, ever forget.... After her divorce, Vicki DeVine took over a rustic resort near Lake Silence - in a human town that is not human controlled. Towns like Vicki's have no distance from the Others, the dominant predators that rule most of the land and all of the water throughout the world. And when a place has no boundaries, you never really know what's out there watching you.

This is my first book by Anne Bishop. I really enjoyed it. So much so I've read 4 of the Others n getting ready to read the 5th. What a great story n I like that the heroine isn't a hottie n has issues like most people. Great characters with unique personalities. I would highly recommended this book.

Wow I mean WOW. What a ride. I couldn't walk away from this book. It'll make you , cry, cuss, scream and according to my family talk to yourself. These characters are three dimensional they're so real. All the elements are there politics (vamp), family, past, present, future, love, hate, hope and magic. You want to get to the end, yet you fear that you're near the end. Jane is amazing, her story is fascinating and her life is not for the weak.

Joe Kenda investigated 387 murder cases during his 23 years with the Colorado Springs Police Department and solved almost all of them. And he is ready to detail the cases that are too gruesome to air on television, cases that still haunt him, and the few cases where the killer got away. These cases are horrifyingly real, and the detail is so mesmerizing you won't be able to turn it off.

I love the tv show Homicide Hunter with Joe Kenda. So when I saw the book I preordered it. I'm not sorry. You may think you've heard it all but you haven't. There are some things you can't say or show on tv, shocking but true. And with Joe narrating like he does the show it's even better. How this man retained his sanity and self control is beyond me. This is one of the best books I've ever heard/read. It's in my top 5 and my library is vast. So worth the read. I highly recommend this book.
