The only thing missing were authentic accents. Although, the performance by both narrators are good, they didn't really sound like Italians...

I don't know if this sounds crazy, but this story had the voices of more mature persons...Just about every sentence uttered by Evie sounded like somebody else, not a 22 year old young woman. Mia wrote the characters like they were sophisticated beyond their life experiences. To much internal dialogue and very boring flashbacks...

This is a good book, but wasn't as good as I thought it would be..First, all of Archer's family;mother, fake dad and real dad her the worse people ever!!! Okay, fake dad did some things to get mom..After mom married fake dad and miscarried first child before Archer she could have left fake dad. Real dad marries someone he doesn't love, cheats on wife with Archers mom and impregnates to women almost at the same time and to top it all off they are brothers.. These are are brothers who end up killing each other. Mia tried to paint "real dad" as a better guy than "fake dad" ,but he wasn't he was abandonedhis legitimate son....That being said Archer and Bree made for good reading..

First, let me start by saying Ballenger is a great narrator. I enjoyed her many voices in this book. Now, the book, this was a good effort and I loved what Regnery tried to do. However; the redundancy was too much at times. She spent too much time on the same day in this story, too much time on e very minute detail of their captivity. When Gris and Holden see each other for the first time we listened to it as it was happening and then the author told us again from each persons point of view and she did that SEVERAL times throughout this book. The main characters did not get time to know each other as adults, because the author told us TOO much about their kidnapping and escape... Some behaviors the two developed cannot be solved with their reconciliation, too complicated. She should have scrapped the redundancy and focused more on the healing of their souls and really getting to know each other. This is the second audio book I've listened to by this author and I really enjoy her talent and I would recommend you read the book because you can choose to skip about 75 pages of unnecessary redundancy. However; if you like punishment, like me, this audio book is good...

My name is Cassidy Porter.... My father, Paul Isaac Porter, was convicted 20 years ago for the brutal murder of a dozen innocent girls. Though I was only eight years old at the time, I am aware-every day of my life-that I am his child, his only son. To protect the world from the poison in my veins, I live a quiet life, off the grid, away from humanity. I promised myself, and my mother, not to infect innocent lives with the darkness that swirls within me, waiting to make itself known. It's a promise I would have kept...if Brynn Cadogan hadn't stumbled into my life.
