This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

The premis behind this book was solid. They could have done so much with it. But it played like a bad soap on TV. At one point there was a part that had nothing to do with any other part of the book and completely confused me. I made it to chapter 19 and had to give up. It was just awful. I have had a few books where the first third was really slow (Starship) and then it got really good. This was not heading that way at all.

Any additional comments?

The whole 6 book series is exceptional. After reading the reviews, I did not bother with the 2 novellas for the price they don't seem worth it.
Nothing in the series if "over the top" or makes you roll your eyes. It is along the lines of the first couple of seasons of 24 in that your alwasy kinda on the edge of your seat waiting to see what comes next.
The only negative part of this series is that they don't have any audio queue to show they are switching chapters or parts. So if you listen while doing other things like I do, you often find yourself rewinding because you think you missed something because they are talking about a different group of the story. If you want an excellent author that makes full use of sound effects and breaks read the Galactic Football Leage series by Scott Sigler (or really any of his books).

Would you consider the audio edition of Fear the Sky to be better than the print version?

I was eyeing this one for a while. But once I listened to The Martian, then found out R.C. Bray narrated this one, I was in. Excellent as ever. Bray knows how to move the story and just has that perfect voice for this kind of material. I am looking for the others but it looks like Audible doesn't carry them. Guess someone else gets my money.

What would have made The Strain better?

As we know, the key to an audiobook is the person reading it. The guy that did this one read every single person in the same monotone voice. It was just awful. So even though the story seemed interesting, I just stopped listening to it as the person reading it was horrible.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The first one was surprising. This one got boring. After the first one I thought I would listen to all of them. Now I doubt I will continue. Maybe one more.

Would you try another book from Scott Sigler and Matt Wallace and/or Scott Sigler?

I loved the GFL and tore though them all in a month. So i figure I had to get any that are associated with it. The Reporter is excellent. Although I wish I had known that it tied in with the GFL All Pro book when I was listening to it.
This book really doesn't have anything to do with the GFL other then a couple characters. I don't watch MMA and couldn't possibly care less about it. So I really never got into this book.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I picked this up in a $4.95 sale. It is pretty basic but eventually grabbed me. I kept thinking "good thing this was only 5 bucks". But eventually I did get grabbed by it. At least enough to try book 2 and go from there. I will say, the narrator of this book has a voice that gets you standing up straight ;)

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I still have to say it was just an amazing series that I will listen to over and over. This could have been the best of the series. But with only about 1hr 20 min to go, Scott throws the entire series down the toilet. I was so disappointing I couldn't even enjoy the last hour of the book. He could have gone on writing this series indefinitely but if he does now it will be because of some "miracle" cure. What a shame.

If you’ve listened to books by Scott Sigler before, how does this one compare?

I have listened to most of them. I have already bought the remaining ones I have not. This book, with the exception of the last hour and a half, was probably 3rd best.

Which character – as performed by Scott Sigler – was your favorite?

Uncle Johnny. John tweety and that whole body tattoo was by far the best character.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

nobody. I am a huge fan of Bert. He is an incredible comedian and I love his podcast. But I have limited funds and I just feel ripped off by this book. I knew that I was going to know some of the contents going in. Maybe it is more that if this book is even half true I feel sorry for him. What a pathetic life. Although since he has a lot of cash I have to pay him tribute for that. But the book is boring and just not funny in any way. Save your money.
I have limited funds and to know that during my limited time when I try and relax, that time was stolen by such garbage almost makes me want to stop listening to his standup.

Would you consider the audio edition of The All-Pro to be better than the print version?

Almost all audio books are better then the print version. The only time they are not is when the person reading it is just awful. Well Scott rocks at reading the books.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The All-Pro?

sorry...no giving it away...

What about Scott Sigler’s performance did you like?

All the voices. The tribute's to The Godfather, Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy, Captain Kirk, South Park and on and on...

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I look goofy laughing as I walk or drive while listening.

Any additional comments?

As a fellow Michigander, it is awesome to have a great author listed in our state credits. I have purchased every book listed that Scott has written, most via Audible.
