This book is a little more predictable than previous ones but is definitely worth the time. It was a nice change to the Brotherhood series to meet new characters and get to find out how others were affected by the raids and how they were dealing with the situation.

Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name. Some cops and the local drug lord try to intimidate Starr and her family. What everyone wants to know is: what really went down that night? And the only person alive who can answer that is Starr.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook to anyone that has tween or teen children. It illustrates the anguish of growing up and lets them know that they are not alone in their suffering. It lets them know that even if people look different, come from different backgrounds, the anxiety is still the same.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Odds of Loving Grover Cleveland?

The attempted suicide.

Have you listened to any of Caitlin Kelly’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I had the time, I would have listen all in one sitting.

Any additional comments?

Great book for young women especially.

I'm glad I didn't waste money to buy this and it was free. author likes to use big words and military terms which are translated for us mortals. It lacks a story line, there is a lot of violence, but does not explain why he is killing off senior citizens. A complete waste of the 2 hours to listen to the book.
