It's late summer, war is raging, and families are torn apart by divided loyalties and deadly secrets. In this complex and dangerous time, a young French Canadian lieutenant is captured and billeted with a Long Island family, an unwilling and unwelcome guest. As he begins to pitch in with the never-ending household tasks and farm chores, Jean-Philippe de Sabran finds himself drawn to the daughter of the house. Slowly, Lydia Wilde comes to lean on Jean-Philippe, true soldier and gentleman, until their lives become inextricably intertwined.

The Bird children have an idyllic childhood: a picture-book cottage in a country village, a warm, cosy kitchen filled with love and laughter, sun-drenched afternoons in a rambling garden. But one Easter weekend a tragedy strikes the Bird family that is so devastating it tears them apart. Many years later something will call them home, back to the house they grew up in - and to what really happened that Easter weekend all those years ago.

Yellowstone National Park, one of Mother Nature’s most beautiful and deadly treasures. Just how deadly you ask? Bobby Akart tells you in this first of an exciting series. You get a lot of well researched information about an area that is over due to blow its top.

The narration is not the best I’ve enjoyed, but it is okay.

The beginnings of a conspiracy begin to surface, possibly connecting strangers and their roles in catastrophes they only vaguely recall.

Always anticipate Shaw’s next release. That being said, I could’ve waited a bit longer for a longer story. The forward, kind of threw me, as it’s a summary of the story to come and not the circumstances that preclude the disaster. Anyway, I liked the book and look forward to Book 2.

The Making of Us is my 5th listen in a row from Lisa Jewell with Duff’s narration. I Found You, The Third Wife, Before I Met You and Then She Was Gone are all amazing. Keep them coming Lisa Jewell, this 54 year old American male will continue to listen.
