I'm an avid Jody Taylor fan. I have had the book for a while, but was reluctant to read it since it was going to be different than the St. Mary's series.

The writing was excellent, up to Ms Taylor's usual, Ms Scarfe did a tremendous job in the narration, but the sound wasn't up to par. It was very soft and in places came in and out volumewise.

As usual for Ms Taylor's books, I have to give it a second listen to be able to catch all the details. But that's what I love about her books.

Everyone wondered about Shaye Archer's past. Including Shaye. Shaye Archer's life effectively began the night police found her in an alley, beaten and abused and with no memory of the previous 15 years, not even her name. Nine years later, she's a licensed private investigator with a single goal - to get answers for her clients when there aren't supposed to be any. And maybe, someday, answers for herself.

I am an avid Mudbug and Miss Fortune fan so it has taken me some time to actually read this book since it's in a slightly different vein.

I enjoyed it. Well written and kept me guessing until the very end. I do recommend it for fans of a little darker whodunit and will read the rest of the series, but I do prefer Miss Fortune

I thoroughly enjoyed this listen. The story was excellent, more true to life than other romances I have read. The narration was excellent also. The story shows that there is someone for everyone, you might have to look for that person, and the one you think is it may not be that person. There was good character growth and development with all characters not just the main ones.

Beautiful. Moving. Inspiring.

I won the book in a giveaway but since I am always puttering I bought the Audible version to listen to it. The words flowed together seamlessly. Normally when I finish a book I can't wait to start the next one, but an exceptional book leaves me wanting to savor the book. This is an exceptional book plus some.

I was quickly invested in Clay and the girls. His story and struggles are very believable. Maddy's reaction to seeing her father after two years was spot on. The correlation between Jess' fight and Clay's addiction was subtley interwoven. The unfailing and unconditional love between Jess, Clay and the girls was inspiring even when hard choices were made.

You will need a box of tissues when reading. Will Damron's narration was faultless. This is a must read or listen to book.

can't wait to read the second book! I really like how the past and the present were woven in together; it brought out why Miranda was the way she is and was revealed slowly instead of all at once giving the book at good pace. Also in the flashbacks, some of Jason was revealed also.

The circumstances that brought them back together was tragic, but if she hadn't run the second time, Miranda and Jason wouldn't have found each other. As it came out later in the book, Jason is a runner also. I do wish there had been more on how they found their "uncle". I really wanted to know because I became invested in their story, past and present.

Emma Clark did a fantastic job on the narration. She infused each character with their own distinct personality, didn't go too fast or too slow.

I highly recommend this book.

I ended up enjoying this book very much. I found it hard to get started because of the subject matter, I deal with Hispanics, legal and illegal every day, so the subject touched close to home. I started off with the Kindle version which I won on a Goodreads giveaway and then switched to the Audible version and was able to get through the book much easier.

The writing was excellent and I stayed on the seat of my pants the last half of the book. There was a lot of character growth in Dagny and there was plenty of character information on the other main characters in the book. I didn't feel like they were 1 or 2 dimensional characters.

There were twists I didn't expect, there were a couple of twists I thought would go one way but ended going a totally different direction, so I was kept guessing. The pace was brisk without being too fast and I was kept on my toes in a couple of places trying to figure out what was going to happen.

Angela Dawe did an excellent job in the narration, pacing was good, emotions were what they should be. All and all I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

I look forward to reading other Dagny Gray novels as they come out.

Where does Anything but Love rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

For this type of story It stands at the top of the list

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like Jessica's metamorphosis, but Ben was pretty cool also.

Have you listened to any of Teri Schnaubelt’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time I have listened to Teri. She did a terrific job, timing was good,

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Second chances

Any additional comments?

Jessica's character did some growing during the book, and we got good information on Ben so he wasn't just a person that showed up. We really didn't get to know the ex-fiance even though he makes an appearance towards the end of the book, but that is really neither here nor there since he plays such a small part.

Overall the writing was good, the protagonists faced their hurdle and came together. My biggest issue with the book was Jessica's reaction when her fiance decides to not marry her. I understand that she is proud of him and the decision he made, even if last minute, but once she was behind closed doors why didn't she fall apart. If she had the story wouldn't have continued the way it did.

There was a heavy subject that was touched on, I think Ms Strom did a good initial handling of it. I recommend the book and will read other books by Ms Strom.
