My dreams haunt me. I feel as if I am falling into a pit of impending doom, but even that has not prepared me for the roller-coaster of emotions that flood over me when I'm near Phoenix. I have to keep my distance from her. I need to. It's the only thing I can do to keep from getting hurt again. Staying away from her proves to be a much harder task than I could have ever imagined. She's not only my assistant, but she's half my age.

Wow! What did I just listen to, and why did it take me so long to start it?!

Riley Murphy's story is absolutely brilliant! The characters are so well brought out, you would think you are right there in the story with them.

Kai and Web did a stunning job. I don't think anybody could have done a better job with the characters in the story.

Another fabulous story by an amazing author. Truly, Cynthia St. Aubin's books have never disappointed me. She is a go-to author for me, and I am so pleased I was given the opportunity to listen to another Matilda novel. She is a hoot and a half, for sure. The characters are well thought out, round, and funny in their ways. I love the individuality of them all.

Hollie Jackson is another favorite of mine, and I was stoked when I discovered that she was narrating this series. I love her voice and the emotion she puts behind her characters. She makes them come to life for me, and that's what I want in a story - to make me feel. To connect with the characters. She does that for me, to which I am grateful for.

Overall, this has been a 5 star read for me, no doubt. I absolutely recommend this series to other readers and listeners, and hope I listen to more in the future!

I actually quite enjoyed this book. It's not like other shifter books in have read or listened to, and the author has my respect for that. Usually it's werewolves and bears, which have become popular shifter characters, that you hear of. These are lions and alligators.

It had a great mix of romance, action, and other things that were intriguing.

The narrator was excellent, and I think the author picked the perfect woman to read her story.

This isn't your typical story, just so you know. At times I sat there and scratched my head wondering WTH the H and h were thinking, lol.

There is always that one character that makes you want to slap them. This book did not disappoint!

Let me start off by saying I loved this book. Loved it. The only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of a 5 star is because I did not know that this was a series and not a standalone book. The ending left me feeling unsatisfied, and angry at myself for not having researched it further.

That being said, I would absolutely listen to this book again, and I hope that I am given the opportunity to listen to the rest of the series. I recommend giving this series a try. It was laugh out loud funny. The ending wasn't bad to the point that I wanted to throw my phone, and if you didn't know better, you WOULD think that it was a standalone, but it leaves you with questions about what the outcome was.

The narrator did a fantastic job with this book. I absolutely loved her voice, and I think J. C. McKenzie was smart to have her do it. I look forward to listening to more of her titles. This will not be my last book from either J. C. or Laurel.
