I had no expectations for this book other than it sounded interesting. This book was so meaningful and full of knowledge. It changed me. It was touching and spoke of hope, love, and the meaning of life. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The performance was spectacular. Highly recommend!!

I really wanted to like this book but I just did not. I liked the idea of different narrators, but the woman was so off-putting that I hated the main character. I never could connect with her. The other readers were not as bad, but there was a lot of background noises that were very distracting. As for the story line, I get the feeling that the author is trying to show you how much research she did for the book but it just doesn’t fit. There are so many distracting side stories and a bunch of facts that are not relevant to the storyline. The main character is not relatable at all.
Very disappointed and will not be listening to any others by this author or the reader for main character.

It's 2003, and as a college freshman in Cleveland, our narrator is adrift until he meets Emily. The two of them experience an instant, life-changing connection. But when he almost loses her, he chooses to make an indelible statement: He joins the army. The outcome will not be good for either of them.

I was deeply touched by this book. The material is dark and tragic but beautifully written in a voice that touches your soul. It was heartbreaking.
