This book was a good listen if you wanted to hear how one man's belief in God was lost then found again later. through difficult times and the questioning of why certain things in life happens to us through the belief in God I was inspired by this book and how some of my questions were answered. this is not your typical book though so it may not be for everyone you will have to make the connections with his story on your own but I do encourage you to give this book a listen and take away from it what you will.

Some parts of the stories I didn't enjoy though but they do have great tips to help tidying up and other lessons that you can apply to your life. This book may not be for everyone tho but if you listen to it all the way through I promise you will digest good information.

When the Patriots were down 28-3 in Super Bowl LI, there was at least one player who refused to believe they would lose: Julian Edelman. And he said so. It wasn't only because of his belief in his teammates, led by the master of the comeback, his friend and quarterback Tom Brady - or the coaching staff run by the legendary Bill Belichick. It was also because he had been counted out in most of his life and career, and he had proved them all wrong.

You don't have to be a football fan to admire this man's hardwork. A story about an undersized athlete who put in work his whole life to get where he is today. Like any of us Julian Edleman tells us about his story of self doubt and the struggles he's endured to get where he is today. You don't have to be a sports fan to appreciate this man's work ethic. I highly recommend this book if your into hearing about other people's triumph and stories.

The Addictive Brain is a fair and balanced investigation of addiction, backed by hard science and behavioral science. Most of us have probably seen the old antidrug commercial in which an actor compares your brain on drugs to an egg sizzling in a hot frying pan. That's a powerful image, but it doesn't tell us what actually happens when drugs enter your body and interact with neurochemical processes.

At just 30 years old, Sam Polk was a senior trader for one of the biggest hedge funds on Wall Street, on the verge of making it to the very top. When he was offered an annual bonus of $3.75 million, he grew angry because it was not enough. In that moment he knew he had lost himself in his obsessive pursuit of money. And he had come to loathe the culture - the shallowness, the sexism, the crude machismo - and Wall Street's use of wealth as the sole measure of a person's worth. He decided to walk away from it all.

One of the best nutrition books I've listened to by far. He talks about eating with emotion and taking your time when you eat. Not depriving your body of nutrients when going on any particular diet but trying to take the key point of each different diet like Atkins or vegan or high fat low protein and combining them to your needs and comfort. like he says there is no one diet fits all plan so we must listen to our bodies and tailor make our diets to custom fit our needs. these were the main points I got from this book, they re more gems in here so I suggest you listen to this book in its entirety.

one of the best books I've listened to period. forget that it's about stoicism and written in a similar style as meditations by Marcus aurelius. This book was well thought out and the stories touch on the subject of the title being the obstacle is the way. He teaches you about people in history and living currently who embodied looking as the obstacle being the way and how stoic their approaches were in handling there situations. You can learn a lot of lessons from these stories and compare some to your own obstacles you've encountered and use the book as a guide to help you face them the next time they arise. great book highly recommended.

I felt this book was filled with amazing stories but also lack luster ones as well. But the stories all contribute to this man's journey to one day reach enlightenment. I would say you should listen to this book in its entirety and bookmark the chapters that you like and go back to them. if your not into the Buddhist aspect of meditation then you will enjoy this book on mindfulness or at least the parts that he talks about it but like I said it was his story in which he dabbled in all types of different mindfulness practices so I respect his opinion on what he's learned and will revisit the parts of this book that I liked and will open myself up to be 10% happier.

Our gut is almost as important to us as our brain, yet we know very little about how it works. Gut: The Inside Story is an entertaining, informative tour of the digestive system from the moment we raise a tasty morsel to our lips until the moment our body surrenders the remnants to the toilet bowl. No topic is too lowly for the author's wonder and admiration, from the careful choreography of breaking wind to the precise internal communication required for a cleansing vomit.

I would say if you're interested in healing your gut and knowing what goes on inside this is the book for you.
