I adored the books, and came to love and admire them even more through their narration. I rediscovered and discovered what I somehow forgot in my reading. The characters and intricate storyline that was incredibly well thought through and told. I found the third to be the darkest book, with some moments being incredibly difficult to listen to, but added to the story's gravity. Narration was fantastic, I think she got better with each book, and she started great, so that's saying something. Particularly enjoyed her Ysabeau. I will listen to again many times I suspect.

One glance at the breathtaking Rosemere Priory and Olivia understands why the manor, magnificent even in disrepair, was the subject of her mother’s exquisite paintings. What she doesn’t understand is why her mother never mentioned it to her.

First, think the narrator did a really good job - timing, accents and differentiation between characters and male/female voice all worked well for the story. Somtimes a little weak on matching intonation with context, but never too annoying or disruptive.

in comparison to her other contemporary works, I found this a weak contribution. it read more like a mills and boon rather than a good novel, a couple of her contemporaries are in my go-to re- reads list. This is not one of them. Her other books seem to have more layers, and say more, this felt less dimensional. still, enjoyed it, just not planning a second visit.

I had read the book a while ago and enjoyed it - not one of the great examples of Ms Ashley's work, but not terrible either. I appreciate mature characters, who come together with life experience and formed characters, and women who aren't pushovers. The narration was good, not great, but at least didn't ruin it for me as others chosen for her books have (e.g chaos series, just dreadful). Mature voice that did good character differentiation. Only failed some on the male leads voice, didn't quite hit the mark and sometimes sounded too young with the intonation/rhythm chosen.

I has remembered reading and enjoying this many years ago, and still enjoyed as an audio book. not great but still entertaining for its genre. despite elements of fantasy it is fairly simplist. You don't get to know the characters that well, but well enough to understand motivations and attraction between leads. well narrated, though think could have done better job with male lead - her capacity for other charcters indicated she could have done a better job.

Narrators did well, even with opposite genders. just found the whole story bit trite and boring...kinda a young womans version of the ideal man and love story, says all the"right things" all the time, not what a real guy, even a great real guy, would so felt too far from reality, even for a romance.

I had loved reading and listening to the first 3 in series several times. They are examples of KAs best work and the narrator did a great job. Unfortunately, this didnt continue in following books, but i wanted another ka book to listen to, and as I didnt like the male lead and general story in the 4th, and didnt recall hating this one i risked it...and sorry to say, it wasnt worth it. It has a dragging storyline made worse when narrated...in fact, everthing just seems worse. the same narrator didnt do a great job this time, but could be even she lacked enthusiasm. pacing and intonation just didnt hit the mark for the dialogue, which for the most part was quite boring. Almost couldnt believe it was a KA book. If you have to get this book, stick to the one you can read and skip through easily!

This is not a great example if Ms Ashley's work. the depth, detail and hot sex scenes are there, but I would say the detail is often not necessary or interesting, and often about 2 storylines that are supposed to provide depth to characters but are really just overdone and boring. the choice for male and female narrators is great, and hope approach continues for sharing different POVs. They are also good voices for the characters BUT their narration gets annoying with weird readings of opposite sex voices and odd end of sentence intonation for the woman.

Nearly gave up on this but slugged through as have previously read book and loved it. Think choice if narrator was wrong...didnt match characters, and maybe a production issue, but lines were delivered that didnt match timing, emotion etc. Did get better half way through.
