For five centuries, a witch's curse has bound the trolls to their city beneath the ruins of Forsaken Mountain. Time enough for their dark and nefarious magic to fade from human memory and into myth. But a prophesy has been spoken of a union with the power to set the trolls free, and when Ccile de Troyes is kidnapped and taken beneath the mountain, she learns there is far more to the myth of the trolls than she could have imagined.

I just couldn't bring myself to care about the characters, and the narrator constant pauses in the middle of sentences was driving me crazy. I did finish it, but won't go for book 2.

Read this for the adventure story which was quite good. The romance was lacking, I just had no interest in that part of the plot. I'm surprised though because she wrote many great friendships, so I don't know why I couldn't buy into the love interest.

Mack might be, to all intents and purposes, a normal looking human, but she lives with a pack of shapeshifters in Cornwall in rural England after being dumped there by her mother when she was just a young child. She desperately wants to be accepted by her surrogate family, not least because a lot of them hate her for merely being human, but for some reason her blood just won't allow the transformation to occur.

The story was fine. I have no connection to the characters at all, and some I just didn't even like. Not in a - they are a bad guy, you're not supposed to like them - way, just in an -ugh they are annoying- way. I have no interest in any sequels, assuming by the non-ending that there is one.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is a Gena Showalter - She is amazing and this book lives up to my expectations. A review doesn't even feel necessary - if you read the first book, you are probably going to jump on this book 2 no matter what.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This one was just too sappy. I enjoy the love story, but it was the hot/cold in book one that drew me in. This one almost changed their personalities

Would you be willing to try another book from Jennifer L. Armentrout? Why or why not?

yes - I'll read the last book in this series.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The female voice was really annoying. In retrospect I wonder if I would have rated this book higher if I read it instead of listened to it. The male voice was fine.

Was Origin worth the listening time?

yes
