I got a lot out of this book. Unfortunately, the author spends considerable time relaying pseudoscience and misunderstood quantum mechanics that are glibly shoehorned into his narrative. I almost turned off the book - I was offended as a scientist that he is poisoning the well with inaccurate portrayals of physics. This, and periodic religious hogwash. Despite these disappointments, I still recommend this book. The Law of Attraction does in my opinion have a logical explanation for its statistical odds improvement for success - it doesn't require fake science/magic to be effective. With that consideration, this book has a number of helpful perspectives and suggestions, along with a narrative hook to get you to read through to the last chapter that I found amusing. So, prepare some Grains of Salt, but do get this book and do (most of) what it says, and you can improve your odds of success.

For generations, record companies have dominated the music industry. Artists were unable to get their material to the masses without label backing, meaning that the path to stardom inevitably involved artists having to sign exploitative record contracts. These "record deals" were profoundly one-sided, and usually imposed brutal, predatory terms on artists. Fortunately, times have changed and artists no longer need labels. It is a new music business, and it is time for a new kind of music business book.

I was looking for a book like this. The traditional music industry is currently existing in an "Emperor Has No Clothes" moment. I've been a business manager and financial consultant for 10 years, and am now ready to take the leap and go all in on a music career at 32. As I've been reading more well known music industry books in preparation, I would repeatedly shake my head and say "These record label contracts are $#&!ing INSANE!". Why is no one saying it in these books!? Well, this author comes right out with that. It's clear to me that in 2018/2019, as long as you have good music, you can and ABSOLUTELY should go independent rather than signing one of these horrific record label deals. So, I've been looking for books on the industry that call out the Nudity of the Emperor (so to speak) in no uncertain terms, and advise from that perspective. Musicians: get this book, it's worth every penny.

Ryan, if you're reading this, I'm letting you know here that I'm going to contact you to let you know how your book has helped me after I have released my debut album this coming year, and I'll be looking you up for legal services. Thank you for writing this book for musicians, and for calling out the Emperor.

This was an excellent addition to Pressfield's "War of Art" series. This book happens to come at a perfect time for me personally - I am quitting my job to pursue my art. I really appreciate the guidance and mental model afforded by this book. I can already tell it will be impactful on my life in the same way "War of Art", "Turning Pro", and "Do the Work" have been.

Are you happy? It may be the wrong question. Most of us think we are relatively happy, while at the same time knowing that we could be happier - maybe even a lot happier. Resisting Happiness is a deeply personal, disarmingly transparent look at why we sabotage our own happiness and what to do about it. Breaking through resistance, Kelly tells us, is essential to becoming the person that God created us to be. What is resistance? It's that sluggish feeling of not wanting to do something that you know is good for you.

Any additional comments?

Here we have a book that is based on a premise ripped off from Steven Pressfield, but packaged in a ridiculous religious context.

In order to defeat Resistance, you must believe in tall tales because a bunch of people who made up some stories thousands of years ago convinced some rubes they were real, and the rubes passed down their belief from generation to generation, making it all the way to you! To defeat Resistance, believe there is a God that created and knows everything, is all powerful, yet thinks cancer in children would be a cool thing to add into the mix! Why? It's right there in the Book, that's why! Why's it in the Book you ask? Because... because it says so right there in the Book! Why should you believe it? Because uh ... um ... FAITH! Yeah! That's the ticket! Now give me some money or spend eternity in Hell, which is a Very Bad Place! How do we know it exists? Have you learned nothing? It says so in The Book that some people wrote a while ago, before science!

Just read Pressfield if you don't believe in a mystical sky daddy wizard because book says and parents said.

This audiobook is very well done, and the material in here is very helpful for anyone looking for a job, and also for anyone interviewing introverts! I was already aware of some of the material here, but even then, it's well presented and serves as a great reminder. Highly recommended to anyone on the hunt who isn't quite extroverted.
