While Kevin Pierce could make reading the phone book interesting, this series is about over for me. I am a character-driven reader, and none of the newer characters were developed as well as the first few books. I think it is just what happens on some of these long serious though. However, if you are interested in some Orwellian kinds of plots, the character stuff might not be a big deal. There is way less of the plausible and way more of the fantastic. They are clever authors, and if that's your thing...keep reading! Love the authors, and would read a new series, but would need a really good reason to revisit this series again.

They travel to Phoenix to rescue loved ones and encounter horrors beyond imagination. America is invaded by forces wishing to take advantage of our weakness. A second American revolution takes place when Cory organizes the survivors into a force capable of striking back. In the Epilogue, we see an America forever changed, but regaining its greatness.

I love Bobby Andrews, but this book sort of jumped the shark. It read like you just gpt tired of writing and so Horace and Corey just did the cliff notes version. the journals are cheating since they were never mentioned before, and much less interesting since we know how it all turned out.

The narration was terrible. How do you choose to have someone other than Kevin Pearce? At least he bothers to pronounce things appropriately. The characters all list their personality and I found myself missing parts of the book because the monotone couldn't keep my attention.

I will of course try other new Bobby Andrews books (unless they are narrated by Mark Shumka), but I am finished with this series. So disappointed.

Have you listened to any of Kevin Pierce’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He is always amazing. I wish there were more hours in the day so he could narrate more books!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Certainly.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Duke Fontaine?

Absolutely.

Any additional comments?

It was a fun read. It lacks some realism in some places i.e. the feds leaving them alone so long, and being so incompetent, and almost everything to do with Morgan's children, but it didn't ruin the book. In fact, it made for interesting conversation so maybe I appreciate that. I don't love the narrator as much as I'd like. He mumbles a bit sometimes and it is distracting.

What would have made Apocalypse: Underwater City better?

ANYTHING

What could Chrissy Peebles have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

It wasn't a book, it was an advertisement, and read like a student project. Awful. I read several reviews that talked about how awesome this was, but I suspect friends and family.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Narration was the worst I have ever heard. Amateurish, mumbles, rushed, couldn't differentiate characters. I will never but anything with that narrator, and will likely not choose an ebook from that author if their choice of narrators gives me a hint as to their judgement.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

It was so bad it actually irritated me.

Which character – as performed by Emily Sutton-Smith – was your favorite?

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I don't think I would have bought it alone if I had known about how it ended. Was disappointed. It was also light on the kind of details that make fantasy novels great. Also, author really needs to have more respect for an Airborne Ranger. They aren't inept.

What does Derek Perkins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I'll be looking for Derek Perkins again!

Do you think Dragonvein, Book One needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It needed a COMPLETE book. I'll buy the next in the series and hope it improves. There are too many truly great fantasy authors to cheat readers.
