Death on the Nile audiobook cover art

Love Christie mysteries

Overall

Although dated, these mysteries remain top notch. The characters enduring. the crime puzzling. I hAve all her novels and can't wait to obtain the audibles. David Suchet was amazing as hercule poriot in the video series and continues to shine, with his storytelling and voice changes for each character . Kudos to all

Good story start with book 1& 2. Well done Audible book as well , the narrator was new to me but good , there was only a tiny moment when I couldn't tell if narrator was speaking directly about moving before continuing story . If it was story of not, it made it feel as if I were among friends sharing the story.
The author has numerous well done novels mostly done in series of books,or novellas . She writes paranormal stories with a love twist . No glaring typos or inane plots. They have formidable alpha characters, with real secondary characters to support. These are definitely not "sparkling vampires", for which I am grateful.
I am interested to see how the curse plays out and for more of the enigmatic "nomad". Recommend the series and check out her website for additional stories that twist the darkness and bring a depth of awe to them .

Great story line , with characters that ran deeply true . Hilarious at times and slightly frustrating . I enjoyed the authors style , but did feel a chapter of pure sex overkill. Even so it had some hot moments and a few , fast f forward already moments . Angst and humor alternating to a satisfying ending .

Not much of a story

ok let me say the narrator's sold this book to me . I adore Kurt graves and forth on was good as well... What i seriously disliked is the auto love ( I'm not talking about desperation sex for comfort or lonliness). This felt like a mystery only faintly sparsed thru the story, as an excuse for sex .
Look i enjoy sex scenes too, but without a contextual ,rational getting to know one another , it just fe!! Flat for me.
Can I just say, where's the meat? Give me great personal interaction before it's an hour of sex with 3 mins of " story development. There's better stories , Adrian English series for instance . Disappointed in the ratings .

I love this series by to klune. The paranormal aspect shifters, witches and hunters, meshed brilliantly.
The world felt real, with its purely human characters of the small town we might all have lived in before. Well written and we'll versed. Their was humor and tears in mix. Sometimes I wanted to smack these fellows for their stubbornness, or cheer them for overcoming . They were both dumb, and smart, but always beAutifully real.
The narrator, made voices for so many characters, with inflections that felt like they were really there telling me their stories. I could tell which character was speaking by these voices and inflections. Thanks to both the author and Mr graves, for the sleepless nights i just had to hear more of this fabulously made tale.

While the story had a few cutesy touches , most of the story left me once
Different . The characters weren't fully fleshed out and seemed superficial to me. While it wasn't a bad story it wasn't good either . I love shifter and paranormal stories but there are better stories out there ( recommend wolfsong by t.j.klune ) .
I bought the Audible version without knowing anything about the book, the narrative is great job but the subject matter was lacking. It spoke of events in past ( i believe this is book 2?) But I never understood what had truly happened . Nothing felt real to me , even for a fantasy . The romance was vague and almost absent . Perhaps because the author wasn't cognizant of same sex romances . Nothing really cclucked . It is an incredibly short tale ,and without proper fleshing out the promise of a story was absent . I have no desire to read or listen to anymore of series. . There is much better out there .

I took a chance on the reviews , as this is a new author, and narrator for me. BOY am I glad I did, no joke the mystery was fantastic, the snark, hilarious, and the story fluid. I fell in love Lane and Felix, their byplay kept me in stitches and sighs both. I listened to it straight thru and promptly bought the follow up novel, It was terrific too! totally recommend the series !

What made the experience of listening to Somebody Killed His Editor the most enjoyable?

Kevin free was perfect for Kits " character and perfect story couldn't shut it off and was up all night finishing it! Mr free had tiny nuances in his voice that made it come alive in even minute ways. Really brought the story to "life"

What did you like best about this story?

The humor, good plot, great mystery ala Agatha Christie, Conan Doyle. characters were all so uniquely written and realistic. they truly came alive with each encounter in the story.

Which scene was your favorite?

Kit waking up to find JR there. in actuality were quite a few favorite moments.

If you could take any character from Somebody Killed His Editor out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I'd like to take Kit and Jr but Kit would prolly dislike the meal the place and his shoes perhaps! Kit is so snarky, and brilliant and a bit of a snob and comfort loving creature. Jr on other hand wouldn't mind a cold beer and a Chicago dog with condiments dribbling over his boots.

Any additional comments?

This series is entirely engaging, complex cases with all the clues followed by reader and yet like master wordsmiths I still am not sure til the last moment whom is the culprit. Characters are deep and evolving, They could be people you know... but also like true humans have the secret sides we don't know.
its humor and craft is fantastic. get the series in books and audible its that amazing.

Would you listen to The Darkling Thrush again? Why?

yes. first interduction to Josh Lanyon's works. Great mystery , it kept me guessing whom the culprit was, and the by play of septimus and colin. Also intrigued byparanormal and fantasy settings as much as I enjoy mysteries

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Darkling Thrush?

the discovery of WHO was not involved in dark "arts"

Have you listened to any of Max Miller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no I really enjoyed it at first his voice was rather dark and drawling and I wasn't sure I would enjoy it but, whammo it caught me and kept me. Mr Millers narration made it ethereally creepy in an appropriate way

If you could rename The Darkling Thrush, what would you call it?

I'm no writer, titles only catch my interest but the blog and sample are the sellers.

Any additional comments?

After discovering Mr Lanyon thru audible books, I began to look for the companion novels. I don't care what he writes, its always a grade above most writers.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

convincing fear of losing a strong friendship by asking for more. I did get a chuckle when I realized the matriarch anastagio was in on it.

Any additional comments?

huge guys with huge balls [ ya literally emphasized] after the chuckle over "size" I did enjoy the story overall.
