Gorgeous writing, flawless narration and characters so real, wounded and stunningly courageous . I could not stop listening and I never wanted it to end. Best book I’ve listened to/read in many years.

The story was pretty good but the narrator was a little bit overly dramatic for my taste game so far I prefer her Redhead series.

Julie James books are always on my list - believable, likable characters, just enough tension mixed with plenty of humor, snark and sexiness. Good one!

While well written, the narrator kept mispronouncing names - Lila, Leena, Leelo, Gino, Nino. Production should have caught these mistakes. Maybe something was lost in translation but I expected more from this story. It just ended with a ...?

Yes! Molly Harper is SO clever and humorous and Amanda Ronconi delivers the perfect narration/performance.

Jane Jameson, of course. She is so witty and honorable and courageous and just plain funny...

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She doesn't just read, she performs the story. Her cadence and character voice changes are spot on.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not the audio version -- the narrator made it a little tough to listen to

Would you ever listen to anything by J. R. Ward again?

YES! I love her Black Dagger Brotherhood series and Jim Frangione is a superb narrator. I also enjoyed Covet and the other 2 books in this series.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I could tell she was reading and her inflections and male voices were off. It seems that the best narrators are good actors too. I don't like criticizing, but in the name of honesty it was kind of painful and made me want to stop listening at times.

Could you see The Player being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

no
