I really like this series but I have one big complaint, only book 3 and 4 are labeled and I ended up listening to the series not in order which made me crazy. I guess this is more a comment to audible and Nora's agent. The only think I really hate about some of the early books is that everyone is always smoking , but I really liked this series and the narrator was great.

This story is 20 years old and timeless. Knowing the culture Nora did a great job explaining it and a lot of it is still as 20 years ago in some places, even now. Narrator was super. I appreciate this story a lot.

I found this book was not romance, not mystery and not science fiction. It was a little of each that did not work for me, too unrealistic to have modern characters believe in supernatural stuff floating around their town. Ending was really weak and ridiculous. The performance was OK but not for the main female character voice, drove me nuts, it sounded like she was swooning all the time. But I will say I bought the second book to see if the story would get better but returned it after 1 chapter because the narrator was horrible in the next book, I do not know why they do not use the same voices for trilogies.

Little else in life is as dangerous as fire jumping. Flying past towering pillars of smoke, parachuting down to the edge of an all-consuming blaze, shoveling and sawing for hours upon hours, days at a time, all to hold the line and push back against the raw power of Mother Nature. But there’s also little else as thrilling - at least to Rowan Tripp. The Missoula smoke jumpers are one of the most exclusive firefighting squads in the nation, and the job is in Rowan’s blood: her father is a legend in the field. She’s been fighting fires since her eighteenth birthday.
