I've listened to good books before, but never have I listened to one all in one day...I haven't done that since I was a kid, reading.
Excellent character development, story, and delivery (Wu hoo!)

I immediately downloaded another Mizushima book....but I'd better eat something before I turn it back on...

Firstly, this is a story about gays in the military, secondly, a weak mystery.

Boring.

The irresistible David Freed’s first mystery is a stay-up-late-to-finish thriller. Based in sunny Rancho Bonita - “California’s Monaco”, as the city’s moneyed minions like to call it - Cordell Logan is a literate, sardonic flight instructor and aspiring Buddhist with dwindling savings and a shadowy past. When his beautiful ex-wife, Savannah, shows up out of the blue to tell him that her husband has been murdered in Los Angeles, Logan is quietly pleased. Savannah’s late husband, after all, is Arlo Echevarria, the man she left Logan for.

Finally, a GREAT reader!!
Holy smokes, what a DIFFERENCE having someone who not only (obviously) read and REHEARSED his performance, but has GREAT character differentiation too.

ARE YOU "LISTENING", AUDIBLE???? Quit hiring crappy readers who read as if it was the first time they laid eyes on the book they are recording. I have turned off so many books and was ready to turn off audible altogether until I heard Ray Porter reading Flat spin on my husband's tablet. A good story made great by a fantastic reading. Please hire more GOOD actors to read--there are plenty to choose from.

Thanks Ray, you deserve an award for your performance! I hope you have more books out there, cuz I'm going to look for books read by you. Really well done, thanks.

Raised by unconventional Irish Catholics who knew "how to drink, how to dance, how to talk, and how to stir up the devil", Kate Mulgrew grew up with poetry and drama in her bones. But in her mother, a would-be artist burdened by the endless arrival of new babies, young Kate saw the consequences of a dream deferred.

There was potential.. Character development is minimal...I would have enjoyed more info about her father's occupation and tales involving her mother always end abruptly.
It was nice having an actress read...very nice.
Good material to fall asleep to.
