Raymond has to get his act together and find a place of his own. But when out-and-proud David Butler offers to be his roommate, Raymond agrees for reasons other than needing a place to crash. David is Raymond's opposite in almost every way - he's Connecticut prim and proper while Raymond is a sarcastic longshoreman from Queens - but their friendship is solid. Their closeness surprises everyone as does their not-so-playful flirtation, since Raymond has always kept his bi-curious side a secret.

It's not easy for a young gay artist like Jordan Carson to grow up in Jefferson, Wisconsin, where all anyone seems to care about in middle school and high school are the sports teams. But Jordan was lucky. He met Owen Nelson in the second grade, and they've been BFFs ever since. Owen is a big, beautiful blond and their school's champion wrestler. No one messes with Owen, or with anyone close to him, and he bucks popular opinion by keeping Jordan as his wingman even after Jordan comes out at school.

I read Superhero when it first came out, and it remains an all time favorite I re-read. I decided to try the audio and wish I hadn't. All he did was "read" the book. He didn't bring the story or bring the characters to life. Highly recommend the book, can't recommed the audio.
5 Stars for the story.

Queeny cocktail waiter Lionel wakes up to find himself in bed with Dog, a straight-acting softball player, and the two embark on a rocky road to romance. A journey that requires coming out of the closet, going into the closet, a pair of red high heels, many pairs of red high heels, a failed intervention, a couple of aborted dates, and homemade pom-poms. Mostly, Lionel and Dog learn what it means to be a man.

What made the experience of listening to Femme the most enjoyable?

Joel Leslie's narration. He has great timing for humor and his ability to change his voice from character to character brought the story to life. It seriously sounded like there were multiple narrators.

What did you like best about this story?

It was sweet and funny plus I'm a sucker for opposites attract romance.

Have you listened to any of Joel Leslie’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have, and he was just as great as the first time I listened to him. He was actually the second narrator I listened to and the one that hooked me to audio books.
