Grainy CCTV footage shows a man walking into a bank and putting a gun to a cashier's head. He tells her to count to twenty-five. When he doesn’t get his money in time, she is executed. Detective Harry Hole is assigned to the case. While Harry’s girlfriend is away in Russia, an old flame gets in touch. He goes to dinner at her house and wakes up at home with no memory of the past twelve hours. The same morning the girl is found shot dead in her bed. Then Harry begins to receive threatening e-mails.

Where does Nemesis: A Harry Hole Thriller, Book 4 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best. Intricate plot that didn't strain credibility, great narration with consistent character voices, unpredictability.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Nemesis: A Harry Hole Thriller, Book 4?

The long explanation of the two major crimes.

Which character – as performed by Sean Barrett – was your favorite?

Tom Voller. Just menacing.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were times I had to turn it off for a while because i knew something bad was coming.

Any additional comments?

This is only my 3rd Harry Hole book (for some reason I skipped the flashback #2 but will go back to it at some point). It's hard to see how Redbreast wouldn't make a great 1st season to a 10 episode Netflix show and Nemesis being season 2. I can't wait to download the next one and see some resolution of some dangling storylines. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about!!!

Will Robie escaped his small Gulf Coast hometown of Cantrell, Mississippi, after high school, severing all personal ties, and never looked back. Not once. Not until the unimaginable occurs. Unlike the missions Robie undertook in the service of his country, where his target was clearly defined, digging into his father's case only reveals more questions. Robie is drawn into the hidden underside of Cantrell, where he must face the unexpected and possibly deadly consequences of the long-ago choices made by father and son.

If you could sum up The Guilty in three words, what would they be?

A nice detour from the usual spy/assassin story. It was good to get more background on Will Robie.

What did you like best about this story?

The villain's monologue at the end was one of my favorite passages of any book ever.

Would you listen to The Girl in the Spider's Web again? Why?

Simon Vance. For me his voice is the book series. His performance was fantastic as usual and he was very consistent with the voice he'd created for each character. The American characters reminded me of what he did with Felix Leiter in the James Bond novels.

Would you be willing to try another book from David Lagercrantz? Why or why not?

Perhaps. I wasn't excited or turned off by the prose. I know he writes biographers and his style may be better served there.

Which character – as performed by Simon Vance – was your favorite?

Detective Bubbles. It reminded me of the prank phone call voice from Ferris Bueller's Day Off (very nasal and exaggerated)

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was just happy to have the characters around again.

Any additional comments?

My only complaint is that the last '100 pages' (an audio book estimate) really could/should have been 400. I liked how Larssen meandered a bit and focused on some of the process details even if it bored others. The last part of the book fell into place a bit too neatly which would have worked if we had known a bit more of what was happening behind the scenes (such as the timely infusion of new investment in Millennium). I hope there is a 5th book since it is set up so well.

I really enjoyed the previous books but this one was the best by far. The story started like a rocket and never subsided. I kept thinking that this book would make a phenomenal movie if they just kept the plot as-is.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Irene Kennedy has become a very interesting character in the series. It's fun to watch her outmaneuver everyone.

Which scene was your favorite?

The last scene was powerful.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
