Sixteen-year-old Deirdre Monaghan is a painfully shy but prodigiously gifted musician. She's about to find out she's also a cloverhand - one who can see faeries. Deirdre finds herself infatuated with a mysterious boy who enters her ordinary suburban life, seemingly out of thin air. Trouble is, the enigmatic and gorgeous Luke turns out to be a gallowglass - a soulless faerie assassin. An equally hunky - and equally dangerous - dark faerie soldier named Aodhan is also stalking Deirdre. Sworn enemies, Luke and Aodhan each have a deadly assignment from the Faerie Queen.

I loved it. I loved the characters, the concepts, the scenery, the sights and smells. Maggie Stiefvater doesn’t write books you read or listen to. She writes books you feel, hear, see, smell and live inside. What better way to escape into another world? Outstanding.

They say Paris is always a good idea.... You know what I say? Paris would be a much better idea if I spoke the dang language. I can't even board the metro to visit the Louvre without ending up at the Moulin Rouge, and let's not even mention how I'll ever make it through a day at my new office. Fortunately my company hooks me up with my own personal translator. Ooh la la. Or should I say bloody hell? Because he's charming, witty, and British, and he brings the city to life for me.

This is a great book filled with enchanting characters and gripping adventures. I automatically chose the Audible version because I listen to all of Kevin Hearne's books instead of reading them, simply because they are narrated by Luke Daniels. But I’ve now realized there can’t be any better way to enjoy this story. I mean really, what could be more epic than having an amazing narrator read out loud to you the words of the bard, telling you the tales of old. It would not be the same to read it to yourself. It's like being in the bard's presence. Amazing. I loved this book and may just have to go listen to it again.
