I didn't expect to binge listen to this audio book in a single day, but it pulled me in and I was so captivated that I couldn't turn it off. It has everything I like about true crime (a story that reveals the darkness of humanity while ending in justice for the victims), but it elevates it to a whole new level. Hearing the survivors tell their stories in their own voices was powerful - they are all such amazing women! And the story of how Larry Nassar's disgusting deeds slowly came to light was beautifully told. The story unraveled perfectly and left me mesmerized. I got tearful at times and angry at others. But in the end, it's an inspiring story of courage and triumph. It also gives great insight on how sexual predators groom their victims and embed themselves in social circles in order to avoid being caught, which may help stop other predators from hiding in plain sight. HIGHLY recommended!

I found the author to be a long-winded blowhard, and I was disturbed by the way he justifies misogyny by using evolutionary biology (i.e. killing girl babies simply makes sense since boys contribute more to the family). Not my perspective or my values. Had to turn it off because I found it so repugnant.

Ever since photographer Lacy Maguire caught her ex playing Pin the Secretary to the Elevator Wall, she's been content with her dog, Fabio; her three cats; and a vow of chastity. For the first time in a long time, Lacy reconsiders her vow - because Chase, wounded soul that he may be, would be an oh-so-delicious way of breaking it.

This book has everything I want in a romance. I was laughing out loud at this story of a divorcee and an on-the-run cop accused of a shooting. The characters have heart, and the love scenes are smokin'! This is a highly enjoyable read with great suspense...and did I mention the hot love scenes? Will be checking out other works by Christie Craig, whose characters leap off the page, and whose inappropriate sense of humor was a perfect match for my own!

Why are Danes the happiest people in the world? The answer, says Meik Wiking, CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen, is hygge. Loosely translated, hygge - pronounced hoo-ga - is a sense of comfort, togetherness, and well-being. "Hygge is about an atmosphere and an experience," Wiking explains. "It is about being with the people we love. A feeling of home. A feeling that we are safe."

In a strange world where Rose McGowan was continually on display, stardom soon became a personal nightmare of constant exposure and sexualization. Rose escaped into the world of her mind, something she had done as a child, and into high-profile relationships. Every detail of her personal life became public, and the realities of an inherently sexist industry emerged with every script, role, public appearance, and magazine cover. The Hollywood machine packaged her as a sexualized bombshell, hijacking her image and identity and marketing them.

There's a disturbing story in the final portion where the author tells a woman who's in an abusive relationship to stay in the relationship and try to be more like Jesus rather than just leaving her abusive husband - which she should! He also claims that men need regular sex because their testicles fill with sperm and they need to release it, whereas women can only enjoy sex when they emotionally love someone. Umm...women need have orgasms too dude. Other than that, it has some good advice. But this book needs to be updated to suit the times.
