Story
Ex-special forces Jacob King is a man who keeps to himself, having learned the hard way that letting people close to you, trusting them, might just get you killed. A lesson he learned when members of his Special Ops team turned dirty while others, men he considered friends, died. He made them pay. He made them hurt. He put them in jail. And so he doesn't trust anyone anymore. He keeps his women hot and fast, his friends few to none, and his clients through the elite Walker Security at a professional distance, but safe. It works for him. Until it doesn't.

Awful readers. Great series, too bad about this one
Reviewed: 10-16-18
This is like the sixth book in a series. I was really looking forward to listening to it, but by the first chapter I knew I wouldn’t make it through listening to it, I would have to read it.
The woman is super stiff in her reading, so monotone it makes me want to stop listening and go read the book.
The man’s voice, who I’ve heard before and really like, sounds like he called it in, literally. The sound quality is awful.
Thank goodness this was a free book included in my romance package because I’m deleting it from my library before I even finish the book.
All the others I’ve given at least a four Star review. I don’t know why they decided to change the readers so drastically but the author should have it re-done.

Story
William Moore is a long way from home. A farm boy from Oklahoma, he's now the most well-respected member of the Irish rugby team. But appearances are often deceptive, and Will isn't the clean-cut, all-American good guy everyone imagines him to be. He's got a secret, one that will tarnish his reputation forever. Josey Kavanagh is a self-proclaimed mess, but she's finally getting her shi...uh, act together. She's set her sights on becoming a veterinarian, but there's one teeny tiny road bump. Her living arrangements are coming to an abrupt end, leaving Josey homeless and in need of a job.

Good book bad female reader
Reviewed: 08-23-18
I love this series, both writers are amazing. Sadly I couldn’t wait for this to end because the woman reading it was so bad. The guy was good but compared to the woman he was Shane West great.
Read it if you can, the intimations throughout will come through better. The woman’s voice barely wavered wether excited or sad. Ugh.
I feel another in this series will be written and I hope the authors choose a better female reader to do that job.

Story
Ryker is poised to become Prime Alpha of the Staynton Valley Pack, taking over from his father. But Ryker's sexuality concerned his pack. Because he preferred mating with men his pack questioned whether he could take a female mate and perpetuate his line. Ryker thought this was ridiculous and didn't feel the need to procreate just to satisfy some old tradition. After an argument with his father about this issue, he takes off to clear his head and finds himself at a shifter bar where he finds something, or rather someone, a rare male Omega.

Reviewed: 07-03-18
This story is cute and predictable and a fun read. Unfortunately the narrator is so bad (dull, no intonation and just a bad reader) it ruins the book. I’m only 2 chapters in and I want to turn it in for another book.
Does no one listen while the reading is going on to hear how awful it is? Too bad because the story was something I really wanted to hear. Guess I’ll have to read it.

It's been four years since I ran away - from home, my brother, and my maybe father. I created a life free of expectations while pretending I wasn't being hunted by all of the above. I managed to stay under the radar all this time...or so I thought. When big brother shows up and saves my ass, I'm forced to face everything I left behind, including her.

After the first book I thought let me see what happened to the brother. Well it was just as disturbing and yet intriguing as the first. I’m a little pissed at the heroine as she lets sex blind her but at that age I know I might have done the same. It’s believable and yet you hope it’s more fantasy than not. Worth listening to.

Fake engaged to the hottest quarterback in the country? Score. They say nothing compares to your first kiss, but our first kiss was orchestrated for an audience. Our second kiss...that one was real. He cradled my face like he was terrified he'd f--k it up. He stared into my eyes until the air buzzed. Soft and slow, full of sighs and little laughs, he inhaled me like I was the finest Belgian chocolate, and he'd never get another piece.

I like Ilsa Madden-Mills books. Listened to most of them - saving up for the ones I have in my wish list ;) I love the English series and the male readers for that series and this book. Thank goodness this story was good since the delivery by Ms Syn wasn't. Well read but no heart or inflection to make me believe she was the character Sunny.
Can't wait for the next book!

They call me Rage. My real name is like a shadow, always close behind but never quite able to catch up. I fly under the radar because no one ever suspects I'm capable of the kind of brutal violence I commit each and every day. You see, I'm a girl. I'm 19. And I'm a killer. This life is all I know. It's all I want to know. It keeps the things buried that I need kept buried. It allows me to live without thinking too much. Without dwelling on the past. Until him. It all changes when an ordinary boy becomes my next target. And my first love.

Returned it because of the reader

I love Helena Hunting! I am sure this book is great but the female reader - Rose Dioro - makes me so unhappy, I want to return it. Currently I sped her reading up to 1.25-1.5, which has helped I know the male reader and like his style of reading and his voice. Unless speeding up Ms. Dioro helps, I will return this book. I have no enjoyment listening to her try to read with feeling. She slows down and I can't hear her, she speaks like the character and I think it might be ok but 30 min into it and I want to stop and go onto another book. Too bad.

They say love and hate are the same feelings experienced under different circumstances, and it's true. The man who comes to me in my dreams also haunts me in my nightmares. He is a brilliant lawyer. A skilled criminal. A beautiful liar. A bully and a savior, a monster and a lover. Ten years ago, he made me run away from the small town where we lived. Now, he came for me in New York, and he isn't leaving until he takes me with him.

Good story bad female narrator
Reviewed: 06-12-17
The story flows ok - back and forth over a 10 yr gap - but the overly breathy female narrator is irritating and not a good representation of what I think the female character would sound like. The male guy is good - irreverent and harsh in his delivery as Vic should sound.
The story is dark and brooding and kept me listening for the whole thing without a break so it kept me interested. Makes me want to listen to the other two books.

Best stories with great writing by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy - that collaboration team rocks!
This is the second half of the story started with Him, and I think I'm on my third listening of the stories. This time going through all four that are available now with these characters.
Read it, listen to it, it doesn't matter because it will make you laugh, cry and bite your nails in anticipation.
Can't wait for the next character/book to come from the Toronto team no matter what sexual orientation they happen to have.
