Neal Shusterman is a master at creating gut wrenching and horrific stories in the most masterful and amazing way. You really feel the pain and the heartache in the well written and well narrated production. I loved it. If you are on the fence buy this book. You won’t regret it!

This book was ok. Probably would have rated it slightly higher even though there was nothing special about the plot. My problem was the animal cruelty. I understand that it’s a story about the apocalypse so animal slaughter for food is necessary, but when they started shootings dogs for no reason I couldn’t listen anymore. I stopped since that part really turned me off. I love my dog, and that part was too hard for me, and the book doesn’t warn about all the graphic animal slaughter. If that kind of stuff bothers you I wouldn’t suggest this book.

This book is very silly. It starts off ok, but the main character is needy and insecure and won’t trust her own judgement. I tried to push through, but about half way through her and the love interest get into an argument that is horribly immature and almost insulting to adults with important jobs and real relationships. I had to stop listening. I find this part utterly annoying and ridiculous. If any real life woman acted like that and blamed her lover for what this character does, her friends and family would be appalled by her stupidity and selfishness not babying her like in this book. I hate to be harsh because I know how hard it is to write a book, but honestly I was so turned off by that part that I will not be finishing.
