This is why I try never to read first in series books by authors I love until more books are out. As with most Sanderson books this one immersed me deeply into the story makeing me not want to stop reading until finished. I actually did have to pace myself. And now I must wait while Sanderson works his way through his many other books (at least I'm eagerly waiting those too) to get back to this series. I just hope it's not so long that I forget about it.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

This is just such a fun book to listen to. Im on my third time and even still i found it hard to stop listening when i get out of my car. I still find alot of moments where i say to myself "oh yeah!, i remember that cartoon, video game or character". Definatly one of my favorite ways to experiance nostalgia!

I had high hopes for this book. In the end I can only call it decent. For the first 12-13 hours I was constantly wondering why I kept listening, it seemed so slow. After that the story started to pick up, thankfully. I'm on the fence right now about continuing the series or just letting this mediocre experience set my expectations for the rest of the books and walk away now.

Maybe I'll get bored enough and need a filler book later. Then this series will get its second chance to wow me.

The story itself if decent. Before you embark though be sure to have your gag reflexes well in check before diving in. It is clear the author is trying to cement the fact that these two who are not supposed to mix at all are building a solid relationship despite all the troubles associated with that situation. It just seemed to me that the romantic segments could have been just as potent or maybe even more so with a lot less. Its kind of like the adage, if you have to say your cool then your probably not. The author tries hard to make you understand these two main characters are in a "wholehearted, die for you" relationship, but in my opinion could have done with less words and perhaps at more appropriate points in the story. If you can get through that or you are used to romance novels and have become desensitized to that sort of plot then the remainder of the story is quite entertaining.

An author whose previous, wildly successful novels have earned him a reputation as fantasy's master of magic, Brandon Sanderson continues to dazzle audiences with this tale of princesses and gods. In this extraordinary world, those who attain glory return as gods. And those who can master the essence known as breath can perform the most wondrous miracles - or unleash the most devastating havoc.

This was the first of Brandon Sanderson's books that I didnt LOVE. It was good though, it did have its moments but overall it was just kind of lack luster. This would be a good one to listen to in between titles you are really waiting for if there is nothing else out there you can decide on.
