Maire is a baker with an extraordinary gift: she can infuse her treats with emotions and abilities, which are then passed on to those who eat them. She doesn't know why she can do this and remembers nothing of who she is or where she came from. When marauders raid her town, Maire is captured and sold to the eccentric Allemas, who enslaves her and demands that she produce sinister confections, including a witch's gingerbread cottage, a living cookie boy, and size-altering cakes.

This story was very creative, however, it was also depressing. I almost didn't finish it because it seemed like there was no redeeming quality to it. I think it could have been more magical and less depressing. I would not re on end it.

At first the story began kind of slowly and I was not sure I was going to like it as much as all of Sarah's other books but she snuck up on me and brought the magic through once again! She is one author I always look for Nd hope for more books! We all need a little magic in our life!

Grave Sight draws listeners into the intriguing world of Harper Connelly, a woman with a unique gift: she can "see" the deceased and how they died. A teenage girl from a small Ozarks town is missing and feared dead. Hired by local police, Harper locates the girl's body in a nearby forest. But there's more than one corpse in those woods, and the second one raises questions no one wants to ask.

I expected more of a supernatural story and less of a murder mystery. I figured out the blood types immediately and thought it dragged out too much. Also the protagonist seems too damaged and weak. Too much hinting at the fact that they aren't blood brother and sister so when is the sex going to start. Will try the next in the series because I like Charlaine Harris but I hope it improves!

The characters in this series are great! I enjoy hearing Bahni read so much that I want to listen to them much more than I want to read them for myself. She has become the voice of Chess for me and has truly enhanced the story. This is my third volume all heard as audiobooks and I will definitely listen to all that Stacia Kane can write. Very creative but believable, if you can believe that!
