There's nothing like a good deli, and the Red River Deli in Trenton is one of the best. World-famous for its pastrami, cole slaw, and for its disappearing managers. Over the last month, three have vanished from the face of the earth, and the only clue in each case is one shoe that's been left behind. The police are baffled. Lula is convinced that it's a case of alien abduction. Whatever it is, they'd better figure out what's going on before they lose their new manager, Ms. Stephanie Plum.

I LOVE Stephanie and the gang, but this story was underwhelming. It went nowhere and didn’t close very well. I still don’t get the plot after I’ve finished the book. Ms King’s performance was,as always, magnificent. I just hope 26 gets back to the lively and funny story line we all adore.

I read several reviews that said exactly what I was feeling. I had been looking forward to this new book, had it marked on my calendar. Ms King as always gives books her best. Lula is the reason many people think I’m crazy when I’m laughing so hard I cry. The Zombie storyline though has to go. I do agree that Stephanie needs to make a decision between Morelli and Ranger...it’s been 24 books already. Ms Evanovich I love your work, just not a huge fan of this one.

Ever since Reyes Farrow escaped from a hell dimension in which Charley Davidson accidentally trapped him, the son of Satan has been brimstone-bent on destroying the world his heavenly Brother created. His volatile tendencies have put Charley in a bit of a pickle. But that's not the only briny vegetable on her plate. While trying to domesticate the feral being that used to be her husband, she also has to deal with her everyday life of annoying all manner of beings - some corporeal, some not so much - as she struggles to right the wrongs of society.

I have to agree with another reader that said this was a retelling of the other books and not all that great. Maybe I missed something that others caught. There were times when I just wanted to hit the fast forward because I had heard enough times how powerful both Charley and Reyes are. Lorelei King is probably my FAVORITE narrator, I pick books just because she is performing them, and she hits the 5 star rating again for this book. But even she can’t get me thrilled about The Trouble with Twelfth Gave. But still looking forward to the next book!

What made the experience of listening to Drop Dead Divas the most enjoyable?

The story is fantastic. Being from KY TN border, I know these ladies. Maybe different names but I went to church with all of these ladies.
Unfortuently, the narration is so poor that I suffered through this book and one other of the Divas. I'm not sure I can get through another, which is a shame because I really enjoy the stories. I was never sure what the emotion of the situation should be, it was all so monotone that it was hard to get the feel of the situation. The accents are somewhere between Southern (my native tongue) and a bad NJ accent.

Would you be willing to try another one of Karen Commins’s performances?

No
