"The tragedies keep coming. As we reel from the latest horror..."  So begins a new epilogue, illustrating how Columbine became the template for nearly two decades of "spectacle murders". It is a false script, seized upon by a generation of new killers. In the wake of Newtown, Aurora, and Virginia Tech, the imperative to understand the crime that sparked this plague grows more urgent every year. What really happened April 20, 1999? The horror left an indelible stamp on the American psyche, but most of what we "know" is wrong.

In 2011, a 26-year-old libertarian programmer named Ross Ulbricht launched the ultimate free market: the Silk Road, a clandestine website hosted on the Dark Web where anyone could trade anything - drugs, hacking software, forged passports, counterfeit cash, poisons - free of the government's watchful eye. It wasn't long before the media got wind of the new website where anyone - not just teenagers and weed dealers but terrorists and black hat hackers - could buy and sell contraband detection-free.

Aspiring model Sandee Rozzo's big mistake was being kind to Timothy "Tracey" Humphrey. After Rozzo refused the 'roided-up ex-con's advances, she described how he imprisoned, raped, and brutalized her for two days. When the courageous woman pledged to testify against him, Humphrey knew he had to silence her. That's when he turned to 19-year-old Ashley Laney. She had fallen in love with Humphrey, her personal trainer, and would do anything for him. On their wedding night, he made a strange request - one that would end with eight gunshot wounds and a dead body.

Having a career in medicine lent me a firsthand look into the world of hospital medicine. The good and the bad, the skills and the pain of choices. This author writes an engaging view and critique of that world. Recommend.

What did you love best about Fire and Fury?

As a political junkie, this confirms everything we have heard about 45. Leaving political parties aside, the lack of policy inquisitiveness one would expect is non-existent. The retention on issues is too. The self-obsession is paramount above all else. No one is at home; let’s hope we survive this.

What other book might you compare Fire and Fury to and why?

Maybe anything written about a leader who lacked the capacity to govern.

Have you listened to any of Michael Wolff and Holter Graham ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Nothing by Wolff, and Graham is always great.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

For the most part. Between shots 😳

Any additional comments?

Thank you for the ability to purchase right out the gate.
