For centuries, poets and philosophers extolled the benefits of a walk in the woods: Beethoven drew inspiration from rocks and trees; Wordsworth composed while tromping over the heath; Nikola Tesla conceived the electric motor while visiting a park. Intrigued by our storied renewal in the natural world, Florence Williams sets out to uncover the science behind nature's positive effects on the brain.

While I agreed with most everything in the book, it is a long and laborious read (or listen in this case of audible). Much of the material should have been condensed. And why do today’s authors need to use profanity? Do they think it adds color? Profanity in a nature book? Even so, I give the low rating because of content even though she is right in so many ways.

Renowned for his remarkable endurance and speed, accomplished on a vegan diet, he's finished first in nearly all of ultrarunning's elite events over the course of his career. But after two decades of racing, training, speaking, and touring, Jurek felt an urgent need to discover something new about himself. He embarked on a wholly unique challenge, one that would force him to grow as a person and as an athlete: breaking the speed record for the Appalachian Trail.

A phenomenal story of mental and physical limits that few are willing to put themselves through. I’m not a runner, but this book grabbed me, plus Scott and Jenny’s animation and description of their friends added so much enjoyment to the audiobook. Scott’s journey also proved the heightened value and need for friends and strangers in working together for the good of one couple’s adventure. Well done Scott & Jenny. Fantastic book!!!

I’m a guy on my second career and now old enough to retire. Do you think I’m going to? No, and maybe that is why I loved the book. I plan on working at least until I’m 80 and maybe more. Chip is such an inspiration, and it doesn’t sound like he will ever sit around on a rocking chair either.
Go get’em Chip. I loved your book!!!

Cliff Notes on this book would be far more beneficial than audible. While some stores the author used to establish his point were interesting, they were far too long and dragged out. Some of the stories were laborious and boring as I wondered where he was going and what point he was going to make. This book would be far better if written in a different and simpler format.
The reader was difficult to follow. It seemed that he took a long breath between each sentence. I finally sped up the audio app, but those long pauses between sentences were still annoying. I did not like the reader’s delivery.
I do not recommend this book in its audible format. Maybe it is better in print form but I suspect the author’s format will make for laborious reading.

Millions are satisfied to sit through hour-long, weekly religious services. Millions more have left the church, brokenhearted and cynical. But God is waking up his people - people who will risk everything and sacrifice anything to become the dynamic, powerful church seen in Scripture. We Are Church calls Christ-followers, young and old, to hold fast to their biblical roots while seeking radical change. Scripture promises an exuberant and unstoppable church. That wondrous early church of acts can be our reality today.

Let's face it. Church isn't working. We hear sermons about the abundant life Jesus promised, but how many of us are actually living it? How many of our churches are thriving? How many people in our congregations are experiencing God's blessings? Maybe it's time to call it quits. Quit church? Well, not exactly. Drawing from his experience coaching hundreds of churches toward true growth, Chris Sonksen calls on us to quit our casual, cultural commitment to church as we know it....

Do you want spiritual blessings as never before? Then read this book. This is not a book on how to receive more, but a book on how to enjoy God’s spiritual blessings; blessings that only He can give. You don’t earn these blessing. Money cannot buy these blessings.
It’s so sad that so many Christians use church as a ticket to heaven and miss so much of what God has in store for. We settle because we are greedy and think we can get rich by doing church our way. Rather, quit doing church our way and do church God’s way.
The words in this book come straight from a pastor’s heart, but take heed and remember, he got them from God’s heart.

In this stunning new book, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous and the most successful. He asks the question: what makes high achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like and too little attention to where they are from: that is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

Most professional speakers in the highest range of professionalism do not use profanity as she does. Clean it up, Mel, and you might relate to a larger audience yet. Overall though, I really enjoyed the book and the reading. Thank you!!!
