The Spook and his apprentice, Thomas Ward, deal with the dark. Together they rid the county of witches, ghosts, and boggarts. In this third and terrifying instalment in the Wardstone Chronicles, the nights are drawing in and it's time for Tom and his master to move to Anglezarke, the Spook's winter house. Tom has heard it will be a sinister and menacing place but nothing could fully prepare him for what he finds there.

Ambrose Bierce, a veteran of the Civil War and writer of note, had a fascination with death and PTSD as a result of his war experience. "One of the Missing" follows Private Jerome Searing, an Army scout, as he goes behind enemy lines. In today's military, Searing would probably be in the Navy Seals or Army Special Forces. He was good at his job, and his job was soldiering.

Would you consider the audio edition of One of the Missing to be better than the print version?

Yes as I usually do not pick up short stories but when I travel to work it is a long trip so short stories are perfect.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The three characters are equally interesting. They all together make the story complete.

What about John Michaels’s performance did you like?

His reading seems to make the story real. I seemed to be an observer.

If you could rename One of the Missing, what would you call it?

The way things, sometimes, just are!

A Bridge Too Far is Cornelius Ryan’s masterly chronicle of the Battle of Arnhem, which marshaled the greatest armada of troop-carrying aircraft ever assembled and cost the Allies nearly twice as many casualties as D-day. In this compelling work of history, Ryan narrates the Allied effort to end the war in Europe in 1944 by dropping the combined airborne forces of the American and British armies behind German lines to capture the crucial bridge across the Rhine at Arnhem. Focusing on a vast cast of characters, Ryan brings to life one of the most ill-fated operations of the war.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The dry historical data is really bought to an exciting level. The author writes a lively tale of bravery, sacrifice, historical facts and sadness. A book that is well worth the asking price.

What other book might you compare A Bridge Too Far to and why?

Tobruk, Kokoda by Peter Fitsimmons>
Tears in the Darkness by Michael Norman
They bring military historyto the people

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

What made the experience of listening to Monster the most enjoyable?

We took a holiday up to Port MacQ (nsw, Aussie) and had a fun drive whilst listening.

What other book might you compare Monster to and why?

I love Tom Holts books and the overall fun use of fantasy is very enjoyable. The way the story weaves around the characters to give the metaphorical appearance of Aesculapius. The Staff being the story and the characters wrapping themselves around giving the reader a journey of enjoyment.

Have you listened to any of Eric Michael Summerer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both my wife and I loved the book and decided to drive 250 kms the long way home to listen to the end of the story.
Joined the authors Fansite and wrote that we were gonna buy the rest of the books and audiobooks.

Any additional comments?
