Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard: the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father fails ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters

It’s rare that a novel can embody so much joy and such depth of sorrow and tragedy. Hannah has painted the complexity of mother-daughter-sister relationships with perception, and attention to the details of life. But her depiction of the life of one family during the siege of Leningrad is almost unbearably tragic. And, I suspect, tragically accurate. This is a masterpiece I will come back to.

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

I loved the spontaneity and openness of Tina’s story. For all her self-deprecating comments and praise for her fellow performers, she’s really the genius. Such a joy to listen to. Think I’ll start again.

I love Josephine Tey and only wish Audible's list if her works were longer. This is a lovely story of an orphan whose ethics are stronger than his need for family or stability. And it's read with such warmth. Just what I needed at the beginning of this bleak 2017.

I needed a novel to listen to in order to escape election week news. It was a perfect distraction. Simon Prebble's narration underlines the strength and sang-froid of the jockey Kit. And a great story about the undoing of a corrupt businessman. Oh if it were only true in real life.

Georgia O'Keeffe, one of the most original painters America has ever produced, left behind a remarkable legacy when she died at the age of 98. Her vivid visual vocabulary, sensuous flowers, bleached bones against red sky and earth, had a stunning, profound, and lasting influence on American art in this century.

They pay Neal's college tuition, and Neal gets an education that can't be found in any textbook, from learning how to trail a suspect to mastering the proper way to search a room.
